I was brought back from the brink of death by a combination of the top ponies in the medical field and the top of the line robotics engineers. Fitted with the best cybernetics available I became a living weapon.

Username: Greetings! I'm crutchie_, but you can just call me Crutch. You may know me as » Asterous «, but I changed my username a few months ago. I have adopted only one character from this lovely center, my beautiful vampire ferret Scarletta.

Why am I interested?: I am interested in winning this beautiful character because of the design. It reminds you of coffee or hot chocolate, and the harness makes you think of peppermint thrown in there as well. In all it gives off a Christmas-y feel and who doesn't love Christmas? Another aspect of his design that I like is how much he looks like a deer. Not a big thing but it's something that I personally like.

What will he be used for?: Minka will become one of my many, many, many characters that receive both art and affection. I will admit that lately my creativity has gone down the drain and I haven't been drawing as much because of school, but I'm confident that that'll change in the following months. Fingers are crossed!

Personality: When you first meet Minka, your first impression is that he is a cherry stallion. You'll see him with a smile on his face, waiting tables or talking to the ponies that are boarding his sleigh. He strives to make others feel welcome even if he might not be in the best mood himself. He is a quiet pony who tends to let others vent or simply talk to him if he senses that they need it. Minka is very passionate about Christmas, so once that time rolls around you better be prepared. Presents will be flying your way from every direction, even if you might have just met him yesterday. It is a known fact that he will leave tiny gifts outside houses on Christmas Eve simply to assure himself everyone has a bit of goodwill in their lives.

On the complete opposite side of the coin, Minka is very prideful and doesn't like being obsessed over. He has survived on his own since he was a young teenager and has made it very clear he doesn't need help. If he does need help, he'll see if he can fix it himself before going to anyone. If you can catch him on a bad day (which is very rare), he will usually stay very quiet and focused on his work but if you can push him far enough, he'll snap at you, and he bites hard. One winter, a teenager and his mother were staying in Canterlot for Christmas and the teenager wouldn't stop pestering Minka as they went around the city. Minka responded by purposely getting them lost, left them by a bookstore on the complete opposite side of town, and went on his merry way. Did I mention it was in the middle of a snowstorm? It was. In summary, be kind and you won't get frostbite on your holiday break.


History: It was a dark winter's night as a young unicorn playboy named Killian stared out at the dance floor. Couples around him swayed in time to the lovely music of the band. A group of mares passed by him, giggling amongst themselves as he gave them a smile. Even though he looked happy, the young stallion was lonely and even though there were dozens of mares to choose from; none caught his eye. That was until he saw her. A slim young deer dressed in a beautiful blue dress and a harness with beautiful bells draped all around it. She flicked her blue eyes to him and he went red, grinning at her from across the ballroom. With a flick of his tail he trotted to her, eyes betraying his excitement. "Hello there beautiful." He greeted her and the young doe giggled. It was the most beautiful sound he'd ever heard. "Are you enjoying the party?" He asked. The doe nodded. "Very." She said in a heavily accented and silky smooth voice, almost making Killian faint. "Would you like to dance?" She stared up at him warmly, cocking her head. "But I don't even know your name. It's rude to ask a lady to dance without introducing yourself." She scolded him lightly. Killian's eyes widened. Name? Who was he again? Did he even have a name? Of course he had a name! Umm.. gosh she was pretty. "Me?" He squeaked. "Um.. I'm Killian." "Artemis. Pleasure to meet you."

A few months after that night, Killian and Artemis got married and settled down in Canterlot. Of course, Artemis's parents were not pleased with the decision but gave up when they saw how in love their daughter was. Killian gave up his job as a businessman to become a professor at the local school. The young couple was overjoyed when they discovered that they were going to have a child. The baby was born in early winter and Artemis decided to name him Minka, a common name among those back in her own kingdom. Killian said that the name sounded like it was meant for a mare, but he knew that it was no use arguing with his wife. Minka was a beautiful baby with his mother's glossy brown coat and slim build and his father's horn and bright eyes. Almost immediately, they noticed that the young colt had something wrong with his vision. He would regularly bump into things or not notice something right in front of him. They took him to doctor who said that his vision was a little poor, but so much that he could be considered blind. Killian was overjoyed by the diagnosis, but Artemis wasn't. The next morning Killian woke up alone and with a note on the bedside table. One of Artemis' favorite bells sat next to it. Killian didn't even bother reading the note.

Even in the absence of Artemis and with his poor eyes, Minka grew up well in Canterlot. He played with the other kids and discovered his talent when he entered a sleigh race with a few of his friends. Of course the fact that the foal was half deer was perfect fuel for the bullies at the schools, but Minka never paid it any mind. Killian loved celebrating Christmas and it was a big deal in their small household. He loved the look on his son's face when he brought the tree home and how curious he was when he told stories of his past Christmas's. Everything was good until Killian collapsed on his 13th birthday. The doctor said that whatever he had couldn't be cured, devastating the family. Minka, against Killian's words, dropped out of school to stay with his father as his illness got worse. He was with him when he died.

Ever since that day, Minka has scraped by on his own and is determined for it to stay that way. He works at a coffee shop as a waiter in the warmer months and a sleigh puller in winter. He wears his mother's bell to remind himself that one day, he was going to find her. Around his wrist he wears an old candycane ornament for his father to show that he loves him, and that he is going to make him proud.

Occupation: Since he had to drop out of school, Minka has two jobs. In the warmer months he waits tables in a local coffee shop. It's not his favorite thing in the world, but he needs the bits. In winter however, he pulls a sleigh for tourists to see Canterlot.
Family:

· Killian: (Father, Unicorn, Deceased) Killian was Minka's only parent growing up, and was very adamant about making sure his son grew up as normally as he could. He died the evening of Hearts and Hooves day .

· Artemis: (Mother, Deeran, Unknown) Not much is known about Minka's mother besides that she walked out on Killian and her young son many years ago. It is rumored that she lives in the kingdom of Snowscow and has a son there as well.

Friends:

· Sulfur Feather: A young stallion that works at the same cafe with Minka. Minka likes his optimistic attitude and finds him quite handsome, though he'd never admit it.

· Thyme: The lovely old mare that lives in the apartment across the fall from Minka's. She used to babysit him when Killian went out with friends or for work.


Disabilities: Minka has had poor eyesight since he was very young. Even with the bad vision he is an expert at pulling his sleigh, though he sometimes has to squint.

Favorite drink: A tea that his father used to make called "Blizzard Tea".

Favorite food: Blueberry pancakes!

Favorite color: Crimson

Favorite holiday: "Um, hello! Minka here, so sorry to cut in but if you haven't gotten that I live and breathe Christmas; you're a bit slow."

Favorite book: The Daring Do series.

Hobbies: Singing, Writing, Reading. In his off-time you can usually find Minka doing one of three things. He loves to sing everything from pop-music to showtunes when in the shower or doing things around the house. Other times he's at his desk, jotting down a plotline he came up with at work or three seconds ago. He is an avid writer and wants to get something published. The more likely scenario is Minka's curled up in a blanket on his bed with a cup of Blizzard Tea and a good book. He'll probably have the tiny fireplace in his apartment going and some light music playing in the background.

Hopes: Minka to one day be reunited with his mother. He has looked through his father's journals and only knows that she is from the kingdom of Snowscow, but nothing more. When he would ask his dad about it when he was little, Killian would simply say: "She doesn't matter. You have me." He also hopes to become a journalist when he can afford to go to school (tuition in Canterlot is pretty dang high), and get a degree in writing. He'll still continue to pull his sleighs, but it would be nice to at least work on the paper. He also hopes to publish some of his stories.

Fears: Minka has the childish fear of thunder, just because loud noises scare him immensely. It is worse now because he doesn't have his father to cuddle up with when he gets scared. He's claustrophobic for no real reason. He just always has had that feeling of the walls closing in on him if he goes somewhere small. Finally, Minka has a thing with being touched. He hates when you touch him if you didn't ask first, or if you do it without him knowing you're there. That's a sure way to get yourself a bloody nose.

History: He was very young when his mother died. He became an orphan and wandered the streets for a while until a nice old lady found him, taking him in and caring for him. She soon decided to open an adoption center and quite enjoyed it. Leo would watch the other orphans play and laugh and cry and help each other and bully each other and do other orphan-y things, all the while feeling very glad that he wasn't one of them. One day, however, the old woman was found to be very sick. She soon passed away and you can guess what happened. Leo was again an orphan but this time in the adoption center. He has since stayed in the corner of the playroom not wanting to be bullied. He sometimes sleeps in his room, sometimes in his corner. But one thing remains for certain, he wants to get out of there.

Personality: Cinaed is very quiet and mysterious, especially around those he does not know. He is almost always attentive, and is a great intel if you can get him to actually reveal the secrets to you. He trusts very few and those who do earn his trust have worked very hard for it. He may come off as oafish, rude, and lazy. He doesn't bother to correct people who think this of him, preferring to have the element of surprise on his side.
History: Cinaed have a fairly normal kithood. His mother moved him and his litter a lot, running from predators and following clan. As a kit, Cinaed loved to follow his father around mimicking everything he did. He was very attached to his father, always following his word to a T and never disobeying him. When Cinaed was just shy of a year old, quickly approaching his time to find his place in the clan they ran with, Cinaed's father became very ill. Though they tried everything, on the day Cinaed was to take his assignment within the clan, his father passed away. Cinaed was devastated, and stayed in his hollow, eating only enough to survive. When his mother passed away a week later, pining for her lost mate, Cinaed nearly wasted away with them. He became so weak, he couldn't move, and he teetered between the spirit world and the mortal realm. While on the border, a spirit came to him from the forest he called home, blessing(or cursing) him with a very special gift: The ability to freely walk between the realms as he chose, and to see and speak to all creatures, alive and dead. Cinaed awoke from trance-like state and opened his eyes on a new world. Where before he had lay in an empty cave, he now lay in a cave full of hazy shapes. Cats surrounded him, watching him intently, waiting for something. Cinaed closed his eyes again, then they shot open as he heard a familiar voice. "Get up son" his fathers voice was faint, but it was him. "Your journey has but began. Don't let it end so soon" Compelled by his fathers words, a slow and painful recovery began for Cinaed. When he was well enough to care for himself, he slipped away from what had been his home for so long, and disappeared into the shadows. He has roamed since the day he left his clan, always on the move.
