The only main furniture that I have in this room is a hand made bed. I found that it's the only piece of furniture I truly need, at least in this room. It makes everything feel less cluttered, honestly. I do sometimes have hand made rugs resting on the bottom, although they do break down quite easily since they're always submerged under water. The rugs that I get are often given to me as gifts from those who depend on my services; since I have no need for money, I often keep them for as long as I can. I do feel terrible that I can't keep them in perfect condition, but what am I to do?"
He let out a soft chuckle. You did find it pretty bizarre that he would be gifted rugs like that though, as he doesn't have any feet to use on the rug. Perhaps he misses his normal form? The more you thought about it, you realized you would miss your previous form as well if you were forced to undergo a radical transformation caused by a curse...
Before you realized it, you were actually lost in your thoughts. He called you over to his crudely made bed suddenly, snapping you out of over thinking the entire thing.

Masika wrote:"Sorry for the bed's appearance, aha! It's looked the same for quite a few years now since I'm too lazy to try to find something new to use. The pillows are new though; I recently got them a few days ago from a kind traveler who wanted to pay me back for my services."
Upon closer inspection, you see that the bed was hand woven from straw and covered fairly nicely with plush pillows. While it didn't look at all like a comfortable place to sleep on at all, you continued to listen to Masika speak.

Masika wrote:"When I grew up as a child, I was forced to sleep and live on the floor. Everything that I did was done on the ground, including eating, playing, reading, etc. My parents were... good people, even though they have questionable morals, ideas, and whatnot. They did their best to provide for us, even if that meant we didn't live exactly in the lap of luxury. But still, even if we did have food and water to help us continue on with life, I would have very much enjoyed having a bed to sleep in for my own.
I am happy to be able to have a bed that I can easily call mine; I made it myself, after all. A merchant who had nothing better to do wanted to see if she could teach someone how to weave baskets. I had already knew a little bit about the whole thing as my mother wove baskets for a living, and she would often encourage us to do it too."
You stared at the man speak, listening carefully to each and every one of his words. Why did he use the word "us" in that sentence...? Perhaps he had others living with him? Siblings maybe? Or did he meant his father? You continued to listen to his words thoroughly, not wanting to miss a single beat.

Masika wrote:"But, of course, being rusty with the whole thing, I allowed her to teach me. I was amazed at how well she sat under the hot sun during those few hours before I could allow her to board my boat. It was truly a feat she had pulled off, especially at how kind she was towards me. You see, I was forced to put boarding on hold due to threats of a severe sandstorm that was making its way through. I wouldn't want one of my passengers to experience being buffeted by the harsh, sand-filled winds as that goes completely against my duty's code of morality. Thankfully the sandstorm never hit that specific part of the Nile River, so once we heard news that it passed, I was able to take her to her destination.
With the newly refreshed skills still in my mind that day, I found myself going to here and deciding to craft myself a water proof bed.It's... alright, I suppose. I'm sure that, if I were to have kept at it, I would be proficient in making bed shaped baskets. It's comfier than just trying to keep afloat or sleeping on the hard, cold ground."
You asked Masika about the noises and events he experiences during his time trying to sleep. He gave a short laugh, as if he was suddenly remembering a few stories.

Masika wrote:"You would be surprised that, even in here, I still hear things above."
You looked at him, somewhat surprised. Seeing how deep underground you both were, you wouldn't have thought that Masika would be able to hear things stirring around during the night time.

Masika wrote:"Truly. It is a bit odd, isn't it? Either way, it's comforting, honestly. Unless it's that no good gang of thieves again; but at least with them, I can see what they're planning. It's always hilarious when they go around muttering how they would love to fry a fish as big as I. I've stopped them many times, protecting and guarding over those who I guide, so I'm not surprised that they're tired of me. Too bad they don't realize that opening their big mouths like that will always give away their devious plans that I can easily put a stop to. Although... I do wonder why they haven't just fully given up; I would think by now they would, since they're unable to make a single dime now with me around. I know that thieves will always exist; back in my time we had plenty, but it's always so annoying to have to take time out of my day to just punish them or scare them off in hopes of having a peaceful rest of the day at work.
Other than that, noises of the river flowing can be heard, as well as people walking around to come and visit the Nile. Both of those noises are soothing to me, and those noises definitely do help lull me to bed. I'm thankful for these noises too. Because of them, I can hear if another person in the nearby village has accidentally fallen into the river. I wished I could be near all of the villages nearby the river, but I'm still very happy at the lives that I've been able to save anyways.
That's all that I have for this room. Let's go explore another one, okay?"
