Hello, my name's hyperthymesia. I am a half-Russian, half-English agender teen living in the UK. c;

Name & Gender of this nerd, and why?

This nerd's name is Augustus Glade - better known as Augie, like Augie Farks from the film Role Models. Augie identifies as a demiboy, but tends to go by he/him pronouns. His friends often joke about his demi-boy-ness and when referring to him, say 'Augself' as a joke to the 'himself' pronoun.

I felt that the name Augustus is pretty cool for Augie, and the nickname sounds pretty neat, too! It actually came up on a list of 'Top 57 Nerdy Names', and it sparked my interest, hence, Augie's name is created. I like it!

Personality & Quirks

I feel like Augustus would be that confident type of nerd - not awkward, spewing out facts to be met with silence, but quite the opposite... People gather around him for his vast knowledge!
He's popular, let's just get that out of the way. He has many friends - *cough* fans *cough* - but he does have a few close friends that he cherishes whole-heartedly. He is quite open about his feelings and opinions, even if they are met with scorn and distaste, and he will always stand up for someone if they are being tormented by bullies or other. He is very loyal, but can sometimes be lacking in manners, and not be courteous - this isn't an often occurrence, however. Usually, Augie is rather nonchalant and very laid-back apart from when he loses his temper: which is not good for whoever is on the receiver's end. He does karate. Be aware.
He has little self-control, so when he spies something he wants, he will most likely buy it or beg for it to be given to him, which brings us onto the fact that he is generous because of this - due to his large collection of trinkets (he likes collecting), he will give away portions of it to friends and other people he holds dear to his heart. Such as his significant other*. Shh. No one else knows he has one! c;
He is very sociable, and loves the attention he gets. His self-confidence is super high, and yet, he does not have an overly-inflated ego, which is good. He is also very 'cool' and 'high-class', so he is respected by his classmates and holds himself with some sort of regal air to his atmosphere.

On the contrary, he is a little unstable in terms of emotions. Though he puts on a front, if he feels sad, his productivity goes down a lot. He doesn't have any mental illnesses; it's just a rare occasion when he doesn't feel all too good. His friends and s/o cheer him up, though, so it doesn't last long. Usually.
When he loses his temper, the consequences can be bad - as said before, little self-control means that the angrier he is, the more likely he is to inflict harm upon the tormentor in question. He hasn't gone so far as to actually properly injure someone, however - the worst he's ever done is given one a black eye and put them in a headlock, so we have yet to witness his proper rage.
Another flaw of his is his impatience. Augie has very little patience, and runs out of steam very quickly when he has to wait; he likes completing activities such as homework fast and with astonishing accuracy.

He is also absolutely obsessed with planets, and plants. He owns a lot of succulents, and calls each one of them after his fears. So far, he has: Shark, Dentist, Loneliness, Silence, Spider, and Pineapple. Don't ask about the last one. He doesn't like explaining. (One fell on his head when he was a kid! //giggles and gets slapped by Augie. ;n;). He's terrified of spiders. Hates them.
His favourite planet is a gas planet named HD 189733b. Not only is his favourite colour a whispy-blue, but also, the fact that it rains hot glass on the planet is fascinating! He loves studying different planets and how they have different conditions, so this is just one of his many favourites - another being 55 Cancri e, which is made of diamond and graphite, believe it or not!
Augie is often prone to loss of appetite - he gets carried away with school projects and writing poems and songs, another one of his hobbies. His s/o can play the guitar, and having taught himself how to play the piano, together they make a neat duet. Anyway - as for his eating habits, he likes everything apart from mushrooms, bananas, pineapples and carrots, so he'll eat basically anything, just forgets to, often enough.
When nervous, he twiddles with his Rubik's Cube - an 8x8, which he has managed to solve in just over 4 minutes! A world record, he claims. No one's bothered to check, yet..

Augie actually has two poems that he likes - one that his s/o sent him when asking him out, and the other which he found.

Poem from the s/o

I fell deep in love, the first time I saw you;

It feels so wonderful to see your pleasant face,
Makes me feel like kissing you and
taking you to some other place:
Where no one would disturb us,
It would be just you, me and the sunset never-ending.

I love you so much, much more than you can ever know,
In your love sweetheart, my heart will always glow.

The other poem

Vivid green, pale, baby blue,
A cloudy streaked across the sky,
We lie together, arms entangled;
Oh – how quickly time can fly.

Your shrill laugh: a moment of happiness,
That dances away through the night,
Stars twinkle: the beauty entrancing,
Shining everywhere with their light.

A fleeting kiss; one moment of glory,
Hearts erupt as breathing goes fast,
Who knew you could have this effect on me, oh lovely one,
But now; it’s the pain of my past.

He likes both poems for different reasons - the first one because it was in an anonymous letter, proclaiming the person's love for him, and the poem accompanied with the letter was the first thing that had ever made him blush. He played it off afterwards, pretending that he didn't care for the other's affections, so his friends left him alone and believed that he never ended up searching for the confessor. Quite on the contrary - Augie went on a full on search, leaving riddles for the person to crack, which they did, and after finally discovering who it was, the two of them decided to become friends. And later lovers. //shrugs. Love does what it wants, I guess!
Augie and his s/o keep their relationship a secret though, mainly because they like messing with their friend's heads by saying they were single, and then they aren't - the circle repeats itself. But also, Augie and his s/o like having a secret that they keep to themselves: it feels even more special that way, which also leaves way for teasing each other when they 'accidentally' flirt with others. Both of them are loyal to each other, though, so they never mean the flirting and joke about it afterwards.

Anyway, got carried away!
The second poem Augie admires because it shows the pain the person must have had when they finally broke up. He feels that it just goes to show that all things come to an end. Though he hopes this never happens to his relationship, he relates to the poem as he was once together with someone who he felt an overwhelming love for - but it didn't last long because his dreams were crushed by said person. Hence, he keeps this poem pinned on his wall, and reads it at least twice any time he feels sad. It makes him feel a little happier, to be able to relate.
But his partner usually has his full attention, so he has stopped reading it as much since they got together c;

The second poem I actually wrote myself when my ex and I 'went on a break', that in the end never stopped. That and I only just discovered the poem today in my files - I write a lot of stories and poetry, so I figured I'd look for something original - so I thought I might as well add it in.
Let me just say that the whole relationship thing I have not figured out yet because I need to work out who I'd like him to be lovers with. I'm torn between three. Three characters. Gosh darn it.
Mainly going for Wrenald rn, but I need to think on it some more!
