Theme #93: Aquamarine

Postby Neah » Thu Aug 11, 2016 12:15 pm

This March birthstone is a type of Beryl and not actually it's own stone. It's name is from the Latin "aqua marina" meaning water of the sea in reference to it's blue color.Aquamarine itself comes in two colors, the light blue used for the birthstone and a dark blue- called Maxixe.

Sailors often carried Aquamarine, believing it to be protection from the sea and from gossip. The stone is also said to be great for picking up spirits.

Aquamarine is associated with unfinished business, foresight, order, stamina, magic, power, protection and healing.

This theme has a shark tail, and fins on it's elbows and behind it's ears. It's gem is on it's tail.

For this one tell me about some of it's unfinished business. Is it happy about it? What brought this about? How do they plan on finishing it?

This is just a base form. Feel free to pretty it up or add extras.

Username: Spiritstar3
Name: Gunjou [also called Sassan, formerly]
Gender: male
Story:
Well, you see...Sassan lived on a ship, and he was very happy there. He knew that the humans knew that he was there, and he was very grateful for the food and water they'd leave for him. Sometimes, one or two sailors would sit nearby and tell him stories. One stormy night, he saw the Captain clutching his Aquamarine and heard him praying to the Heavens [or maybe the stone] to save him, his ship, and his men. Try as he might, the blue water canine could do nothing to grant this wish...He is not happy about this, and remembers even to this day. He then took the name Gunjou after leaving the ship wreck. He would plan to finish it, but they are already gone...However, he does watch over the descendants of these men.

You know, the username was inspired by a friend - he used a really weird word beginning with K, so I looked up some interesting words and boom this one - and chromosynthesia - caught my eye.

    Basic Info:
His name is Tremorius Alke (nickname --> Tremor, or Alkaline to Aegaeus)
He is DMAB, but is a demi-boy, and uses They or He pronouns
    He is grey-aromantic and demisexual
He is about forty years of age, which is quite young considering his species type, which can live up to 1500 years or more

    --------------------------------

    Story:
Tremorius Alke is a strong character who hates being told that he's wrong. And unfinished business - that is what he's usually capable of avoiding; biting the lines of fishermen if they fish too close to his home, setting up booby-traps for overly-adventurous teenagers.. Apart from this one time.
Due to him living on the shore, in a small hut, he is often quite alone, and he likes it that way - his own space, his own 'house', his own rules. He lives in a rather secluded area, so not many people or creatures wander by, leaving him to his own devices: most often swimming, catching fish, looking for treasure - that kind of thing. He liked it there because it wasn't explored as often as other parts of the coast-line, so he could do whatever he wanted and no one would interfere.
    Anyway.
Tremor was lying in the sun on such a wonderful day - the seagulls were screeching, the breeze was gentle and mild, caressing his body as a parent would to a child, and the waves swooshing back and forth like a hoard of singers. He was in a bliss.
Suddenly, loud shouts. Footsteps. More yelling. Tremor perked up his ears, listening intently; his eyes spied four kids, all about twelve or thirteen, he thought. He was about to slink into the shadows of some tall kelp in the water - he hated being noticed; some fishermen once tried to capture him and sell him to the museum for cod's sake - but his small movement was noticed by all but one of the children. Squabbling started, and they all rushed towards Tremor (excluding that one kid), kicking sand in all directions and screaming loudly.
Now, Tremor hated loud noise. He liked to be in power. And this wasn't a very powerful feeling - this was his shore, his rules, his sand. Not for some noisy little nobodies to run around and scream at him. He stood up, bristling and growling at the kids, who all stopped, wary of his poise. As soon as Tremor relaxed, however, the tallest of them picked up a stone and threw it, hard, at Tremor's flank. It bounced off without making a sound, and didn't even hurt the sea/land-dweller, but his anger flared and he snarled, leaping into the safety of the ocean.
Obviously he wasn't quick enough, or maybe the kids had already started moving, because his tail was grabbed and he was wrenched back onto the dry sand, his muzzle planting down into it and causing him to have difficulty breathing with the small material clogging his nostrils. He wriggled, but found that he was sat upon three ridiculously heavy children who were poking him and laughing obnoxiously. Tremor wriggled more ferociously as his temper grew and the pokes, scratches and hands grabbing at his body parts continued - especially at the gem on his fin. He tried to bite them, but they were too far away, clambering down his tail and hind paws and only approaching his face when he was focused on something else.
A call from somewhere alerted all four kids - one of which was still far away, having been searching for shells - and they reluctantly got up, but not before one of them kicked Tremor in the stomach. It hurt, but he exchanged his whimper for a growl and darted for the salty water where he nursed his wounds for a few hours.
The one image left in his mind, however, is the shockingly pure look of the child who never engaged in torturing him. The look was almost guilty, but Tremor was sure that that particular kid meant no harm and would be spared of his future wrath.

    ~
A few weeks passed by with not so much as a peep from other humans and creatures, and Tremor was starting to forget that the horrid occurrence had ever happened. He still had a few small cuts and bruises from their careless hands, and the grudge was sat deep in his subconscious, but he decided to let it go because they were just kids - he was pretty sure that he'd terrorised multiple sea crustaceans in his childhood - and carried on with his daily life of laying in the sun and periodically catching fish to eat.
It would have continued like this as well, had a silly person not thrown the beachball over the cliff and onto the very beach that Tremorius was residing on. At once he remembered his hatred for the children and how they violated him, and in his anger, popped the beachball with the intensity of a maniac before settling in the kelp that he liked to hide in.
He was even more annoyed to see the same children from a fortnight ago come down the ancient stairs and look for their ball. One of them - he was pretty sure she was a girl, though before he hadn't been sure - pointed at where the popped ball lay in tatters, and recognition crossed all of their faces as they remembered the creature they had tormented. The same three that had given him small scars seemed to be searching for him, and, him not being a coward, decided to come up with a plan to scare the children away from his shore.
He leapt from his hiding place, covered in wet sand and all sorts of seaweed, arranged to look like a massive jellyfish-like creature. He advanced, making gurgling growls - achieved by filling his mouth with water - and the children scattered, but not before a few more larger rocks were thrown his way, which he just managed to dodge. Once again, his anger flared and grudge settled deeper in his heart. He would one day get them back, properly; not by scaring, but maybe a bite or two wouldn't hurt - or would they?
When he'd shaken himself clean, he noticed the same child that had not joined in that many weeks ago. The child approached slowly, stretching out a hand that clutched a small, leather-like necklace with a shark's tooth on the end. Tremor growled lowly. What were their intentions? Instead, the child demonstrated by pulling the necklace on, and then pulling it off, extending both hands again to lay it on Tremor's head. A small, gently stroke was placed on his cheek, and the child ran off in silence, sparing a smile to the sharkdog before vanishing from sight.
Tremor still felt a deep grudge towards many of the children and adults that dared to approach his lair, and rumours were now going around of a creature protecting that part of the shore, but his fur still bristled at the thought of this 'unfinished business'. The one thing he valued, was the necklace and the stroke he was given by the child that had the pure look in their eyes.
--------------------------------

    Personality & Attitude
As you've already heard, Tremorius Alke is of strong character: he is bold, brave, and doesn't back down in a fight. He takes pride in himself and what he does - such as his swimming skills - which could be counted as a sin (Seven Deadly Sins), but we'll just glide over that.
He has quite a cocky attitude as well, and mocks others often. It's not so much that he likes making friends - he doesn't, truthfully - but if there is someone who is willing to make fun of others just as he is, he is totally on board with them! He has a lot of.. 'fans', he calls them, and in his anthro figure I imagine he's the 'kinda-popular, flirty guy' who joins his friends and spreads his arms over their shoulders whilst chatting about something on his mind.
Other than his occasional attitude like that, he is very nice and fun to hang around. He isn't very affectionate and hates hugs and attention. He appreciates people who are altruistic, and actually likes hanging around someone who is a little introverted because when he is quiet, they tend to talk, and he enjoys listening to their voice(s).
He's an all-round sweet peep and will always stand up for his friends. His determination is also another quality of his that is highly valued.
--------------------------------

    Quirks & Other
¬He's highly sensitive to criticism - though he tries not to show it - and doesn't like being told what to do.
¬He gets annoyed when things are out of place - he's a bit of a perfectionist.
¬He collects things associated with glass - seaglass is a common factor in his collections.
¬He believes strongly in merpeople. No one believes him when he says that he did see one, somewhere.
¬When nervous, he is prone to saying two words, a lot, in particular: "Kelplings alive"
¬His favourite quote is the title of this entry.

    I am fully aware that I went overboard with this. I found it really fun //sweats ;v;
