great, feel free to pm me! just a thought, you could even have a list of penalties that you randomized (fewer penalties for good jumpers, etc.), maybe assigning random penalties to even out the playing field (even good horses have their bad days). you can get penalized for a lot, unfortunately, but i can try and find the official list if you'd like. after all, each penalty offers a different punishment (x penalty points, grounds for elimination, etc.), so it's hard to generalize penalties. up to you just how realistic you want to make it though.

Oh, don't you worry, this showing system is quite intense c; Much more than just adding up the points! Can't stand systems like those xD I specially designed it so that every horse had a fair shot at placing well but the better horses would also tend to place higher, and they're all designed to offer varying degrees of penalties, but I do think it needs some revamping so that penalties are a little more frequent and more in tune with the type of discipline ^^ I think my biggest issue was that I designed the same system for every discipline, when in reality, I thought to have separate formulas for each discipline. As of yet, the penalty system works so that every horse is generated a number which corresponds with either some penalty (knocking a pole, refusing, late lead changes), acting up (rearing, throwing rider, etc.) or even an injury or lost shoe, but since I needed a system that I could just repeat for every discipline, it ended up spacing out discipline specific things wayyyy more than it should have, and I don't know that I even thought about including time faults ^^' I may have, but it's been so long that I can't remember, hahaha!

So I think what I'll do is brainstorm up a slightly different formula for each discipline and then run it that way, so that eventing will tally up the penalty points (which will actually be generated by the formula if I figure everything out right) while dressage will still operate on the score itself, and that way everything can be a bit more realistic. That is, if I come up with something that I actually have time to run xD But at the very least, I'll reconfigure each one separately so that each competition is a little more realistic to the discipline!

wow, that certainly does sound complex! best of luck in figuring that out, aha, though from what i can see you're very adept at managing such an intricate game.

Well, thank you, I appreciate that <3 I hope that didn't sound condescending or anything! Just wanted to assure you that it's more than just adding up the stats so that you never feel like it's hopeless if your horse happens to have less stats than another in a competition c:

didn't come off that way at all! i'd actually love to learn more about the way you run competitions; my little half-sim has been struggling lately because i do most of the math of the competitions by hand and it's incredibly time-consuming.

as for suggestions, so i'm not horribly off-topic, perhaps using horses for lessons could be viable for moneymaking? perhaps lessons would earn you x amount of coins, but would start eating away at your horse's willingness and trainability (you know how lesson horses are). perhaps competing or even paying a fee for a "professional trainer" could earn the points back? again, just thoughts, not something i'm really hoping to see but could be helpful in the future for owners who are down on their luck.

Oh, haha, so do I c; The trick is just spacing them out and dividing them up, honestly xD Otherwise it gets to be a bit too much, hahaha.

I had considered lessons for a while but found them just a bit difficult to keep up with, unfortunately! But I'll see about trying them again maybe if I can think of a way that makes them easy to implement c: Thank you so much for all the suggestions! <3

yeah, alright! i might just try and revamp my entire showing system, aha.

by the way, are feral horses ever going to be a part of the game (camargues, mustangs, chincoteagues, etc)? i mean, i understand taming is a pain, so they could just function as a normal breed in-game (stock breed, light breed, pony breed, whatever works), but i've always had an affinity for them and would love to see them come up (i'd probably end up being the association owner if they ever did, aha). such versatile little things, y'know?

Hahaha, well, I'm almost halfway through ours! I'm quite happy with the way it's turning out, so I always recommend revamping when something becomes an issue because you can usually only get better ^^

Oooh, Chincoteague ponies! What a great idea! We did have a Mustang Million back on the old thread and I'd love to do it again, but I never thought of Chincoteagues and I'd love to do an event for them if they've got enough popularity on here to make it worth it! :D I myself adore them so I'd love to include them, and we can maybe have another Mustang event soon too ^^

While I'm posting anyways, what does everyone think about keeping driving as a discipline? Is it worth it? It's traditionally been a draft sport even though all breeds could technically excel in it, but unfortunate while it has that stigma it's kind of doomed to never run until I make enough active drafts... Should we turn it into combined driving and make it more breed-inclusive? Leave it as is and just promote it a bit more? Do away with it altogether? Let me know what you guys think so I can figure out what to do with it during the competition revamp!

Well, first off, I know I haven't been here for quite a while. However; I plan on coming back. Secondly, I would love to keep the driving competitions as is but let other breeds compete. And also, adding miniatures and shetlands, fallabellas, etc would make driving so much more enjoyable and more adorable.
