Story: Hotaru was born at dusk in a kennel. It was getting dark and the first stars were coming out. Her mom was very weak. It had been a rough birth. The other puppies hadn't survived and it wouldn't be long before her mother passed away. She started humming to Hotaru softly to calm her and as she hummed fireflies joined in singing with the mother. Her mother died that night listening to the song of the fireflies sing. When Ariana came out to see why the other dogs were howling, she found one lonely pup surrounded by fireflies and called her Hotaru, which in Japanese means, Firefly.
