If you have a nursery item, you don't have to wait to use it as long as you've got a pairing you can use it on. So in short, as long as you own an item, the nursery wait is null.

Only the owners of a zver pairing can initiate a breeding. People can't borrow zvers to get a cub. The nursery won't be closing right away as there are many nursery items still floating around that need to be used or traded in should the owners of those items not have a zver pairing to use it on.
