boodles wrote:@ Transkitty; that's really good advice and some of it I've already been working at, like associating them with good things (the shower of treats) and swapping things like blankets and litter boxes. The main problem, however, is that my apartment is quite small to separate them completely for a long period of time, to do that, one would have to be permanently locked in the bathroom, which I don't really think is a fair experience, especially for the new kitten. Also, it's just me, so trying to move them about the house by myself without allowing them to see each other would be a problem. Also, Slate is good aggressive like a dog, my feline canine lol. I think those would be great steps if I had more space/help, but I just don't.

Well it also wouldn't be fair for the new kitten to get hurt because the introduction was forced to go faster than the pace the cats need.

I also live in a tiny apartment, but my bedroom has a door. Would you not be able to keep Lucifer in your room during the transition? Also, I think I phrased it wrong! You can let them see each other when you're site swapping, just don't let them come into physical contact with each other. Having one in a cat carrier is good for this, especially since you'd be doing it alone.

No, my bedroom does not have a door... Like I said the advice you offered would be great steps for someone who has the resources and such but for me I just can't them all work. And as I said, I have already been doing some of the steps a couple days at a time so I just will continue to do what I can.

On another note, today Slate did come out on her own accord and sit on the back of the sofa while lucifer was sleeping in my lap. Luckily I had treats within arms reach and rewarded her for coming toward him on her own. It was also a relatively friendly sitting between the two of them for about an hour, as even after Lucifer woke up and started playing in my lap she only growled for a second then stopped and let it be and still stayed perched on the back of the sofa.

I think maybe Slate does enjoy having a companion, as she always has, I think maybe just the last cat I had before Lucifer just had a personality Slate didn't like, especially since Slate has befriended so many other cats. I think maybe her aggression towards my last cat was kind of a "one-cat-deal", you know like how some people just aren't cut out to be friends. Given our lack of space and such, I'd say we've made great progress in the time Lucifer has been here.

Came back from college orientation and found my cat wayyyy overfed, hurray! :/
My sister seems to have fed my tiny, 7-8lb cat a full bowl of food twice daily, hopefully alongside her wet meals(otherwise I'll have to deal with dehydrated cat). I feed Orijen as her dry staple and the bag was supposed to last into college, but it looks like I'll have to get more before I move in.

But for non-rant news.. College campus is great and looks perfect for kitty walks! I'll have to desensitize Frisk to bikes (and crate train her for the dorms) but apart from that I think she'll do fine.

I have a couple !
1- Put an old towel or something alike on the bathing spot .
2-Always check the water befor eyou put your cat in the water !
3-Don't put shampoo near the cats eyes , if you do your cat might start sratching the eyes D-: .
thats all what I have !

So far our most successful method of bathing our cats has been as follows.

Fill the bathtub up about halfway with pretty warm water. Make sure to cover the surrounding area in towels in case they try to escape and have a good 2-3 towels to dry the cat off. You might need more depending on their fur length and thickness, but I think we used 3 on our full grown shorthair baby.

One person will need to sit in the bath (or squat or stand, whatever is more comfortable) to do the actual washing (I recommend not wearing pants for this), while another person will stand at the side of the bath to prevent the cat from escaping, as well as hold them so they don't squirm a lot. We found it easier when I sat behind the cat while washing him - that way he couldn't scratch me.

I suggest keeping only the cat shampoo near. Last time I accidentally used some of my shower gel on the cat and he ended up smelling like raspberries for a whole week. I don't think it actually harmed him, but better safe than sorry.

Once you've washed them, you might want to take them out of the soapy water and rinse them with some clean water, just to make sure they don't have some soap left on them that they might eat while washing themselves. After that, place them on one towel and place another tower over the cat and gently dry them.
I'd suggest not letting them run around before they have mostly dried. Depending on where you live and whatnot, they could get cold. Wrapping the cat in a towel like a baby and holding them for a while can help absorb more of the moisture. Remember to give them a lot of treats and kisses afterwards, too.

Weighed Ruff and Archie today, they seem to have put on a bit of winter weight...

Ruff has gone from 5.1kg to 5.4kg, Archie from 5.4kg to 5.6kg!!! In about 2 months! They are both quite big cats so they don't look chubby, though Archie looks fat because of his oddly long stomach fur XD Looks like we shall be cutting back a bit on food for a little while!
