entry: 'A mermaid-goob? A mergoo? May I ask what it is?.... Hmm... A half-fish half-goob creature, you say?... Interesting, thank you for telling me.' Fay never heard of a mergoo let alone a mermaid...So she was having trouble imagining what it looked like.

Have a wonderful day :)======================

entry:
A small and gloomy-looking little goo, with what can only be described as a disembodied voice, starts to speak hesitantly. "I am called Rem, I share this with you all."
It's a somber bit of song, and all the more tragic with the young goob's low but projecting voice:
"I once met a maiden, sullen but fair
And this sordid tale she would bare:
She said 'Hail, hail, a sailor I see, listen to me I implore
Sit down, yes, sit for a while, a drink for you I will pour.
My sailor is gone, he's at Davy Jones' locker,
The only survivor was that old deaf hawker,
And the tale he told was not believed by us all.'
He said waves, WAVES, as tall as the sky
And nothing but drowning despair
Until shockingly, suddenly, silence had come
And he crew caught a glimpse of the sun.
But alas, too fast, the worst was to come
For every poor sailor was struck,
With an empty gaze, all in a haze
They jumped off the ship one by one.
Their minds were lost,
under waves they were tossed,
As they all heard the same pretty song
The mermaids were laughing their teeth oh so long
Their feast was about to begin."

entry: Kazoo was really excited when he heard the word mermaids. He had always wondered what these mysterious creatures looked like. Weβre they a mutation of fish? He knew they had tailsβ¦ tails that resembled fish! The little goobie knew there was a chance that he could see one, for the first time up close and real! He brought his small Polaroid camera with him, for the slight chance he actually got to spot one. He bounced in place, his excitement too much to contain, his little body shaking with his movements. He was so very excited and energized to see mermaids!

entry:
Okomori scrunches his nose at the bard. Even though he had become much friendlier since the last event, something about their energetic vibe gave him the ick.
"Do I believe in mermaids? What kind of question is that, do I look like a child to you?" He huffed in disbelief.
"Nobody sane would ever believe in people with colorful tails. Who even makes a living off of seashells anyway? They claim they have treasure when really it's just the junk and litter humans throw into the ocean. It's pathetic." He ranted in one breath.
"But..." He trailed off, lost in thought. "If you had asked about sirens..."
The very mention of the word sent a chill down his spine, the shiver visible in the way he jittered his body, assumedly to ward off the evil surrounding his sentence. Now, it wasn't a surprise that Mori knew very little of his past, but what he did know is that the ocean was a wicked place. He didn't have a fear of water per say, but what might lurk in the vast, deep waters...that's what terrified him.
Suddenly he recalls a flashback from his childhood:
"...and as the unforgiving storm raged on, The Captain and his men braced to wreck. Huge whirlpools whipped them round and round. Waves the size of castles crashed upon them, washing away crew members, supplies, and leaving huge gaping holes, quickly overflowing with salty water."
Okomori sat on the edge of his seat. He was in some sort of dimly lit room, it smelled musty and the bed he was sitting on was uncomfortable. He heard gasps and words on encouragement from other kids, but when he looked around, their faces were so blurred they were beyond recognition. This was a common occurrence when remembering his past.
"What happened next?" He asked, surprised that he had spoken up so confidently. It usually took him a lot of convincing to speak nowadays.
"Be patient little Oko...you can't rush a tale of such dire straights. You can cut the tension with a knife, hear a pin drop...keep it that way."
The voice speaking to him sounded slightly older and deeper. He nodded, waiting to listen to the rest of the story.
"Just when the crew thought they were doomed, they heard the sweet sounds of an angel's voice!"
Some of the kids cheered while the others made noises of disgust. "Briar, come on I don't want another romance, love has cooties."
The man chuckled and shook his head. "Head the rest of my story, for this is a tale that might not end the way you would expect! Carrying on, the voice multiplied, soon a chorus of what seemed like hundreds of them called out to the crew. For reasons we have still yet to fully understand, Captain's entire crew jumped overboard. They abandoned their ship without hesitation. Soon, they each saw a beautiful creature, top half of a human, not unlike themselves and the bottom a colorful fish tail with blinding bright scales. Some men wondered if they had died and gone to a better place. However, as the men drew nearer, the unthinkable happened.
The once beautiful creatures brandished rows of razor sharp teeth, bigger than any shark they had studied on land. Their fingernails grew into giant talons, eyes darkening until they were complete blank and void of any emotion. Their hair turned into think tangles of seaweed and they latched onto the crew of the ship. Within mere seconds every man had vanished."
The room hung silent for a minute. Soon, hushed whispers settled into the air as the children began to discuss what happened in the story. Once again, Mori spoke up.
"How do you know all of this, it's not like you were there, it's against rules to go to the ocean."
Briar leaned forward in his chair, Okomori wished more than anything he could remember his face.
"Because, I was there when their empty ship washed ashore here many moons ago. If they hadn't seen those creatures....the ship would have carried them home."
Okomori felt sad, he could feel the pain in Briar's voice. The other children broke out into play, imitating crew members and the awful creatures that took their lives. He had always wanted to sneak away and go out to sea, but for now he would stay in the old and creaking room where it was safe.

DAY 1

entry:
"Mermaids, huh? Yeah, I suppose I have a story about one of those to share..."
"Once upon a time, there was a famous pirate. The reason she was famous was because she almost seemed to have a connection with the sea; her ship never got caught in an unexpected storm, she never got lost at sea... When it came to figuring out what direction to go in while hundreds of miles from land, she was unmatched. In fact, it was almost like the sea would help her at any opportunity. Once, another pirate ship tried to attack hers. In the resulting battle, the other ship ended up completely destroyed, with barely any scratches on her own ship. The waves themselves were constantly crashing against the other ship, much harsher than they had experienced in any but the roughest storms, or so the survivors claimed."
"Now, the most mysterious thing about this pirate was that she would often spend several months at sea. No stopping at any ports for supplies, not even stopping at any known land masses just for a break from being at sea... For months. Some thought she had finally gotten lost when she was gone on these trips, but most knew better. No, she'd eventually be back, but from where, no one could tell you."
"Obviously, there was something magical about her, that much was not really in question. Some claimed she was a ghost, but anyone who had actually seen her knew that was not the case. Others said she was a witch, and used her magic to control the waters. But she never cast a single spell, so most knew that guess was wrong as well. Some jokingly suggested she was a mermaid. Little did they know, they were right."
"The only reason anyone even found out about the truth was because one day, while she was at a port, a kid who was trying to board one of the other ships slipped and fell into the water when an unexpectedly large wave pushed it away from the dock. The kid cried out, and the pirate rushed to their aid, jumping into the water after them. Though she helped the kid climb back onto the dock, she refused to climb out herself, instead choosing to swim away. The onlookers were concerned and confused, calling for her to come back, but she ignored them. Later, she turned up again, perfectly fine. But some of the onlookers claim that as they were watching her swim off to sea..."
"...They saw a mermaid's tail come out of the water, for only a brief moment."
Despite everything,

Heya, I'm Eevee!
Thank you so much to twinkle! for the adorable avatar!
It's still you.

entry:
Keaghan sat next to his best friend Mordecai who was clearly having an anxiety attack. He put an arm around his shoulder and sighed.
"Wanna take your mind off it?" Mordecai nodded and Keaghan got into his "story telling" position.
"Did you know, mermaids actually exist?" Keaghan raised an eyebrow and grinned.
Mordecai, arms wrapped around himself tight, looked up.
"No they don't, don't lie to me..." he looked upset.
"I'm not! Remember, I used to travel... I've seen one!" Keaghan cleared his throat and put his hands out.
"It was a long time ago. I was really young at the time, and I was on a boat with my pa who brought me along on a business trip. He was a sailor for a fishing vessel, and he wanted to show me how his job worked. Anyways, I was on the boat with him when out of the corner of my eye I saw a flash of silver. I thought it was a dolphin and got excited, I bounced up and down and called for my pa. And my pa was excited too, and called out the boys. Everyone went to come look since no one had seen a dolphin before. But what came up was no dolphin. It was a woman! And she was cutting the fishing nets apart, telling us to leave. We thought she was in danger so we threw out a line to help her, but with one swift move, she leapt in the air and swam away... with a fish's tail. There was no mistaking it, she was a mermaid. And I never saw her again. Although seeing her, and how pretty she was... made me definitely hate eating fish!" Keaghan laughed heartily and looked over at Mordecai, who had peeped up again and was slightly smiling.
"That's a good story. I feel... better. Thank you."
