Minerva buzzed out of a hole in the ship's hull taking a moment to observe the terrain as she sped towards where her calculations told her the Scorpio section would have landed. She had to admit, it had a sort of wild beauty to it. The sun was currently setting, staining the sky a deep crimson, and giving the wide, sprawling plains a harsh look. Strange, two-legged, gazelle-like creatures bounded across the landscape, making hairpin turns around the bits of spaceship that cluttered the landscape, and, in the distance, a large creature reminicient of a Tyrannosaurus lumbered around, occasionally pursuing any of the smaller creatures that strayed too close. It was strange, the similarities and differences she could see between this place and Earth.

As the AI neared the Scorpio section, something strange registered on her sensors. It was a pulse, not quite ultrasonic, if she was human, she would have just been able to hear it. She couldn't be sure of its point of origin, but it seemed to be coming from behind a nearby ridge. Odd, but that wasn't her goal right now. Slipping through a hole in Scorpio's hull, Minerva jacked herself into the comm system, praying it still worked. The main power cells were with the rest of the ship, but each section had its own backup battery, for exactly this reason. "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your flight attendant speaking," she said, her voice echoing througout the section, "We would like to thank you for flying Air Zodiac, and we ask that anyone still breathing and capable of locomotion please exit the ship through one of the many holes encircling the hull. Thank you."

Shipwrecked

Postby ☪ℓυηαя∂яσρ☪ » Wed Jul 13, 2016 1:27 pm

"Your son, Minerva, and Nicholas." Rikimaru gestured behind them to the following crew members. Monty sniffed Theo happily, his little stump wagging like the adorable puppy he is. "How are you, sir?" They asked politely, eyeing him pointedly to see if he was injured. He didn't seem to be hurt, but they were not a doctor.
Speaking of...
They looked over at Reinen, glad they had found his father and wanting to see any happy interaction they could. A father-son reunion definitely counts.

Thue rubbed their ear a few times, tapped on it lightly with a finger - they were hearing an odd, pulsating sound, just barely there and soft enough that they hoped it was just an unusual case of tinnitus. Considering their situation, however, there was a good chance that it was something far more serious.
They tried to push the worrying thought away by returning to the chat window. ALEC had replied. It was worse than Thue had feared; only a ridiculous small percentage of the ship's AI had made it through the crash, if his estimate was to be trusted. Thue supposed it made their job easier. Two AI were certainly a lot easier to keep track of and maintain than thirty, but still, it didn't encourage high hopes for their eventual return home. At least the main guy was still online, although his capablities would also be limited by the state of the ship itself ...
Thue shook their head. Okay, enough. No use worrying about everything at once; first things first. Before anything else, Thue needed to get out of their room, and ALEC said Minerva was on her way. True enough, the otherwise inactive speakers in Scorpio buzzed back to life and Thue could hear the AI's wisecracking voice. Typical, really, that it was the two most obnoxiously sarcastic AI that had survived.
"The hole in the roof is too small for me to get through," Thue shouted into the air, desperately hoping Minerva was close enough to hear it. "I need you to either fix my door or make the hole bigger somehow. Also, have you seen my kid?"

---

Could Puck tell exactly where they were? They looked around, seeing far too much and not a single recognizable thing.
"Uh ..." They ran a hand through their hair, momentarily having a distant thought that it was gross with sweat and that they really needed a shower, before something occured to them. They fished out their gaming console from a pocket in their pants, flipped it open and tapped "Enable tracking device" on the screen.
"How about this? Can you detect my Gamepad?"

"Not unless he's suddenly developed the ability to transform into a space gazelle-elle-elle," Minerva said, still broadcasting through the intercom. Apparently her speech centers hadn't survived the crash totally undamaged. She'd need to get Wesley to work on that. "Sit tight, meatbag," she continued, "I'm heading to the outside-side of the ship, hopefully I can cut you out of there-re-re." Minerva smacked herself, hopefully jarring her vocal processor back into working order, then zipped outside the ship, searching around the exterior until her sensors spotted a life sign inside. "Watch your eyes in there, pally-ly-ly!" she called out, popping a tiny plasma cutter from a small recess in the Owl's side, "You got them human optics, this might be a bit hard on them!" The plasma cutter's end glowed a bright blue, and as she set it down on the ship's hull, the reaction was far more than she'd anticipated. She'd expected a few sparks, of course, but she didn't expect to see jets of flame pouring off the end of the cutter. Oh. Right. Atmosphere. More oxygen meant more fire. Well, hopefully there wasn't anything flammable down there, that might prove an issue.

"Where have you gotten to ..." Thue mumlede to themself, hoping Puck's abscense meant they had managed to find other humans and not that they had been marked or eaten by whatever a space gazelle-elle-elle was. While Minerva flew outside, Thue started searching their upended room for a pair of safety goggles, eventually locating them underneath a pillow and a pile of dictionaries on the floor. There, they should--
--do absolutely nothing to protect Thue from the blazing column of inferno that rocketed out from the ceiling at that moment. With a shriek they leaped backwards, scrambled on all fours into the far corner of the room, and curled up while watching in horror as the mattresses on the beds and a decent amount of clothing went up in flames and thick, black smoke started clouding their vision.

August

A gaming device, huh? Yeah, he could... wait a minute... there! A glowing image appeared on his arm, two digital icons showing both his position and Puck's.
"Wait just a minute, I'll be there as soon as I can!" Like August had thought, the kid appeared to be on the other side of the hull, albeit a little further away than he'd originally expected. At times like these, he was rather envious of Artemis's mobility. Maybe he should carry a hoverboard around too? Hypothetically, of course, not that he'd find any around here...
Back to the current topic. It would probably take fifteen minutes for him to navigate over there, tops. Not that difficult with the help of his radar, although the tiny lights dancing around him really didn't help. Perhaps they're some kind of firefly? As he walked, August reached out to grab one, trapping it in one of the compartments in his prosthetics. If the scanner was intact, maybe he could analyze it later.

"Hang on a second!" Minerva called out, raising her volume to be heard over the cutter and the flames, "Almost done!"
A few more seconds, and a largish section of roof dropped away, revealing a thoroughly charred room. Oops. Hopefully there wasn't anything important in there. She knew humans liked to keep all their flammable precious objects in one place. Kinda strange, in her eyes. "So, uh," Minerva said, almost sheepishly, "you still alive in there, buddy-udy-udy? Didn't factor in how the atmosphere would affect the cutter. Bit more oxygen here than we're used to."

Rikimaru is an awkward babeh

Postby ☪ℓυηαя∂яσρ☪ » Wed Jul 20, 2016 2:01 am

As Rikimaru maneuvered through the fallen ship parts and pillars, they looked over at their dog Montague. The little puppy was busy sniffing at Theo, wagging his little stump tail. Rikimaru smiled at their dog and motioned with their hand for him to come. The corgi obeyed and came waddling happily over to his owner. Rikimaru knelt down and pet their short dog while watching Theo and Reinen reunite. They felt slightly uncomfortable around the medic, remembering how they had to carry him to the med bay and in doing so had to deal with his arm slung around them. They shook the memories away uneasily. They did not like physical touch, but in that moment it was necessary. They gripped their corgi's fur in their hand uneasily, something the dog picked up on. He was a therapy dog after all... they should have seen that coming.
Monty liked their master's hand gently and let out a soft whimper. Rikimaru smiled at him and picked him up in a hug.

Theo nodded curtly at his second-in-command, acknowledging their report. He was glad that so many of the crew was safe, especially Reinen. He knew he was supposed to remain impartial with family members aboard, but sometimes instinct was hard to override. He would have given the young officer a hug or a manly pat on the shoulder, but he knew how much the youth preferred not to be touched. He offered his closed fist for a bump.

Rikimaru smiled at him and returned the gesture. They appreciated his consideration for them and met his eyes. "What do you think we should do now?"
