I was born, but with a sense of urgency around the den. My mother licked me and nuzzled me like no one would ever. A sweet scent of milk wafted in the air when she told me these last words:
"The dark will lead you to life,
But beware the light.
For though we wake at day,
Shadows are more in the night."
This meant something. I knew it would. But how would I find out? My mother had left this earth at that last word, that last breath of air, so I had no where to go except outside. My eyes had already open somehow, and my ears were alert and ready for anything. So I stood up. It was wobbly. But finally, I made it outside.
Comments + critique, please? Nothing's too harsh for me, I just take it as help. :3
