 anyways. i hope the art style changes and diff brush sizes won't be too jarring going from old pages to new ones lol... tho i can always remake the older pages later... hms. this WAS just intended to be an experiment but now i want to see how far i can get before i lose the sauce ps. whether u are a longtime fan or a new one, i am grateful that u have spent ur time reading thus far <3 i hope ur enjoying the story and that u continue to check out the new pages (when they eventually get released) πΊ |

Dog shapes

heyo! I have not been super active on the oekaki for a couple of years so I don't always answer these but right now Im in a phase and I would love to draw some dogs and try to explain how lol the most important part of this is to look at real dogs I guess, I sketch alot at the dog park and when I want to base something off a specific breed I look up pictures and I look at all the distinct shapes and what stands out, it's a practice thing. I also love to look closely at mix breeds and notice their induvidual quirks and try to figure out where they got it from (: but what I've chosen to show first here is how I work with implied shapes, top row is the lineart I would end up with, just showing the face shape. below that Im showing the focus areas, for the GSD shape I make it very pointy, sharp, wide nose bridge, implied eyebrows. the area where the eye and cheek meet is also very important for implied shape, the lower eye line thins out and up front and further back it comes to a point, making it look like a cheek is pushing up on the eye without actually drawing much of a line for the cheek. purple lines are used here to show areas with implied shapes, I don't know how much sense Im making lol, but it's like drawing a shape without outlining it, enviromental storytelling, sometimes I have to erase a bit to make it happen, thin out the lines or make gaps, it's hard to describe I guess. this is also what Im doing when I don't fully close my lines, it gives a softer look, like everything is one object, no clear line where one bodypart ends or begins, just hints at where things jut out or bulge. then, at the bottom of the page, I used the same basic sketch and gave it 3 different coat types, flat, rough and wavy, to show how much difference a coat type can make. I also tried to show the basic strokes Im making for each type in blue, I don't know how much that helps lol and of course some basic body shapes, these make alot of difference. unfortunately my only tip here is references, look at real dogs or good pictures of them and try to think about what makes their shape stand out, sleek thin limbs, slanted backs, edges and a wide stance, there's always something that at least get's you in the right genre of dog breeds and then you can add the details that define the breed you're depicting. I also suggest looking at related breeds and what makes them different to avoid those traits and get a clearer image. so that's alot of text that may or may not help, Im not great at the explaining bit but hopefully something here helps (: |

OH that does make sense actually. i might have to try this when i have time!! references got it π and the differences tip is acc so smart though. ive seen lots of them saying like alaskan husky vs siberian husky (apparently also the alaskan husky is diff to the alaskan malamute!! i didnt knwow that acc so wow) |

Trickster Treats: The Bubbling Bog

 Q&A || Game Start || Archive || MYOs || Shop .ΛβΉ. ΰ£ͺβΉΛ. ~ The Bubbling Bog ~ A scent, something sort of humid and earthy, catches your attention as you continue on down the path. Then you start to hear something strange -- distant peals of laughter, and beneath that, a thick bubbling sound. You climb a small hill, and at the top, a bog seeps and burbles around the roots of an enormous willow tree. It's alive with a vibrant greenish glow. The clearing is lush with all sorts of interesting plants and stones, and besides that, you think you can smell sugar on the breeze as well. π Down the path to your left, there's a frothy waterfall; free-flowing where it tumbles down the stones, but it churns up a foam where it drops into the surface of the bog. The water there is velvety with algae, and big bubbles float around in the air just above. Every so often, one of the bubbles seems to light up before bursting into a sparkling mist. You wonder what could cause such a phenomenon. π The path to your right winds around the other side of the bog, twisting around big boulders and trailing thorny vines until it arrives at the most delightful little picnic area, set up beneath the gnarled roots of the old willow tree. There's candies and drinks and snacks of all description set out, and that laughter you heard before is definitely coming from a little further out in the field near the party tables. Sounds like some halloween activities are in full swing out there. π Directly across the bog from you, a rustic series of wooden panels fashioned into a ladder lead up the side of the willow tree. At the top of the ladder, you think you catch the barest glimpse of a hollow, sheltered underneath the long, dancing fronds. There's a little balcony out in front, decorated minimally, but the place looks quiet. You wonder if there's anyone home, or if whoever lives here has gone out to join the festivities happening somewhere nearby. .ΛβΉ. ΰ£ͺβΉΛ. ((What will you do?)) π Walk down the path to the left to get a closer look at the bubbling area of the bog beneath the waterfall. π Walk down the path to the right, and follow the grassy knoll around to where the party supplies are set up. π Climb the tree to the balcony and investigate the open hollow. ((β‘ this station will be open for 48 hours! β‘)) |

Trickster Treats: The Lantern Garden

 Q&A || Game Start || Archive || MYOs || Shop .ΛβΉ. ΰ£ͺβΉΛ. ~ The Lantern Garden ~ As you turn a bend in the path, you're overtaken by a bright yellow glow, intense enough that you have to shield your eyes for a moment. Once your eyes adjust, you peer towards the source of the light, and find a magnificent garden full of lanterns, in all different shapes and sizes. Some stand proud and tall on handsome posts, while others dot the grass in ways that remind you of ivy leaves, strewn along on cords like vines. π The biggest lanterns catch your eye first, where they tower over the hillside. In fact, it almost seemed like the closer you wandered, the more massive in size they grew, far beyond what distance and perspective could have accounted for at first. Yet despite their brightness, their glow doesn't hurt your eyes the way the others did. It's a warm, welcoming ambiance. Then, you nearly jump. There's something glimmering inside the halo of light inside the big lanterns. A closer look reveals the comforts of a small home - a bed, a few shelves, a big armchair... it's remarkable. You wonder who could possibly live there. π A little further out into the field, there's the remains of an old well, its stones fallen into disrepair, with the grass grown up in tufts around it. Another lantern floats above its waters, oddly, without any visible cord or post that you can find. You glimpse movement, and cautiously draw nearer. The ripples in the well isn't just water, you realize. There's something deeply magical about the stars reflected in its surface, far more numerous than even the stars scattered in the great sky above your head. The water pulses and bubbles, as if possessing a life of its own. Its tendrils reach towards the lantern, but the bright glow repels its grasp, and the light glimmers brighter for a moment. Something very hungry lives within that well, you realize. Something the lantern wants to keep underground. π As you crest the hillside, you suddenly stumble, tripping over something hard and jagged that's half-buried in the dirt. You right yourself and take a closer look, surprised to find the remains of a gravestone, so worn and weathered that you cannot find any writing upon its plaque. There's more of them, you find, as you gaze out through the tall grasses where the furthest lanterns are strung. Decorated graves, sculptures, and even the smallest of stone markers, all crumbling where they once stood. You make sure to move so you're not standing over any one resting place out of respect, then you freeze. You've moved just enough that the light of one of the nearest lanterns has fallen perfectly over the face of one of the gravestones. There is writing there where there wasn't before. You see a name. .ΛβΉ. ΰ£ͺβΉΛ. ((What will you do?)) π Call out a hello near the big lanterns. You want to meet whoever lives there! π Kneel in the grass next to the well, and watch the battle between light and darkness unfold. π Inspect the gravestones beneath the memorial lanterns. Surely that must have been a trick of the light? Or are the lanterns casting magic onto the graves? ((β‘ this station will be open for 48 hours! β‘)) |

orion is very much confused, is she bald or not?! O.K is question her lifes choices (and orions), swift and endo are losing it and have stitches coming for them in another five minutes. bliss is very much sympathetic, his cheek fur also get soaked. blizzard has no thoughts aside from the fact it looks good! fox and honey are partially distracted by two little bundles but fox is very much for this new fashion trend and honey is a fan of using them for loud storms. |
