Fishing lesson ~ Page 1

I believe this is the first time I've drawn Rayu here (I have one not-so-proper drawing of her in the making, but I'll save that one for later to post). Besides that I've sadly neglected her for many years because I had too much of an anxiety when it came to paws once upon a time when she and I were young. And when I overcame it, I just never got around to show her that I had faced my fears and problems ... It's been so many years since I last drew her that I decided to start with the longer one of the short stories I finished writing recently.
I cannot say how often I will have time to work with this though, I will do it whenever I've time and my health is up for it. Based on the manuscript this will be somewhere around 26 panels long once it's done. Ah yes, I allow me to confess as well while I'm at it. I was such a nerd of Spyro when I created her. Thus her design is heavily inspired by him, lol. I still love that purple little dragon as well. Ps. I love my rainbow fish and hate him, I didn't want to make a boring fish + I have never drawn a fish before today. He made me forget what the last panel was meant to look like originally and now I will have to change some of the upcoming panels because of him. |

I don't know if I buy the idea of losing your soul, but I do think that using my magic for myself can lead to dark places. Ray: "My grandfather told me a lot about Darkstalker after we learned I was an animus. Honestly, he scares me, because I can understand why he became so horrible, which is why I limit my own magic. I wasn't always blind, I lost my vision in an accident with Rainwing venom when I was 4. I'm not totally blind, either, I can still get a sense for light, but I prefer to keep my bandages on." |

The Forest Guardian

 A sense of resolve settles over you and you clutch the acorn to your chest, drawing yourself up defensively. You allow yourself a deep breath, then take off at a run, as fast as you can go, down the newly opened path at the edge of the maze. This totem is important; you can feel it in the warmth that radiates from its golden surface. You have to protect it. Something shadowy and spindly crashes into the ground near where your feet had just been and rakes furrows through the weeds and the dirt. Something else swoops overhead and snatches at your shoulders, but it's almost insubstantial, and its yawning grasp slides away from you like water rolling off a duck's back. You run faster, diving headlong into the overgrowth of the forest. The air grows heavier, and the acorn in your hand grows warmer. You notice only after a few more of your own pounding footfalls that the glowing spots of light flickering around you aren't fireflies. It's magic, you realize, and it thickens as you run; its glowing tendrils snake along the path you've chosen and push aside the reeds and underbrush to clear your way. The shadows that were chasing you before seem to give up after a time. The darkness around you thins, and slowly lifts, and you finally stop, gasping for breath. Ahead of you on the path, a magnificent golden spirit towers over the saplings of the forest. It watches you, and you feel transfixed by its gaze. A silence broken only by cricketsong stretches for a long moment before the spirit moves, and as it does, you feel the tension in your shoulders ease away, for it looks on you approvingly as it draws closer. Its body is long and slinky, with narrow paws, and its tail ends in a drawn-out tufted shape. It reminds you of something like a mink or marten. You wonder if it has a name. The spirit pauses close enough to you that you could reach out and touch it if you had the mind to. You can feel its approval even more strongly now, almost as if it had a voice, murmuring in your ear, [Well done.] It lowers its nose, and touches the back of your hand, and with only a brief hesitation, you offer the acorn. A glow envelops the totem, and when it clears, a golden pendant with a strange symbol rests in your palm instead. You look up just in time to see the spirit turn away with the acorn tucked safely between its teeth. You could almost swear you hear the same voice again. [You will always be welcome, here in the forest.] You look at your amulet's symbol again. You're not sure how, but it reminds you of the forest. It reminds you of yourself. It reminds you of warmth, and of safety. You slip the pendant over your head and turn to go, glancing once behind you, but the golden spirit has faded into the wind. You feel entirely at peace, and treading back the way you came invites no shadows clawing at your steps. You wonder what exactly it is that happened. You hope you did the right thing, and reason that the spirit must have had some reason to look so fondly upon you. Maybe another night, you can come back and learn more. You'll bring the amulet with you. For now, it's about time you got back to the pumpkin patch. After that, you'll be long ready to finally head home. |

Hello! Thank you so much for playing! I really owe everyone an apology. :”] I am truly sorry for letting everyone down with this game. I do my best to be reliable when I set up activities for CS, and it really does weigh on me not to leave y’all hanging like this, especially for so long. I can 100% promise though that this didn’t happen lightly. Something really threw me off course in a way that I wasn’t expecting, and not only did I drop everything on CS for a time, I’ve basically been on hiatus from the entire internet for a few weeks. For anyone who checks in on my artistic presence outside of these games, this hiatus will probably continue for a bit longer before I’m regularly active again. I may not be able to host a game around the CS advent as originally planned, but I could postpone it to the easter event if it would disappoint anyone to have this halloween one be the final game. If/when I become active on oekaki again I may move on to other projects, but I’d like to finish off these games in a way that’s satisfying for everyone, so if you feel positively about having one final game, please feel free to mention so in the comments. With regards to my ongoing hiatus, if you need to reach me, you can always message me to ask for my discord. I’m fairly good about responding there since I also use it to keep up with several irl friends of mine. The Vending Machine

 You find yourself standing in the soft pink glow of the vending machine on the corner, drawn in by the curious shapes of bottles and boxes all colored in bright shades and boasting delicious-looking treats. As soon as you get a good look at everything, you're even more confused than you were before. The "prices" on the machine are completely indecipherable; written in a strange symbolic notation and the single legible number "5." Before you decide on what to get, you wonder for a moment if the machine would even accept your coins at all. You reach into your pocket for a quarter, then flinch and almost drop it as you reach for the coin slot. The money has turned into a golden token in your hand. With a little effort to banish your trepidation, you tip the token into the slot, and with a small clinking sound, the machine's bright blue symbols turn green. Well, it looks like that was all it took. At least it's not very expensive, you think to yourself, as you once more survey your options. The drinks look decidedly like potions, you realize after a moment. You're not entirely sure you should trust a potion bottle, although at least the top row is labeled with flavors you recognize, with some relief. The snacks on lower shelves look beautiful and like they might be sweet. Pink Halloween
I wanted to draw *something* for Valentine’s Day so here we are,,
I tend to forget that Valentines tends to be pretty much a kids and couples holiday so whenever I get excited and let people know about it, it’s always “oh got any plans?” *wink wink* And to that I say my plans are candy,, My family has a tradition of having heart shaped/colored ravioli for dinner and then having chocolate fondue for dessert. It’s loads of fun and we pull out all sorts of snack foods to dip in it like bananas, strawberries, chips, pretzels, etc. and we mess around with the dipping stuff too,, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, peanut butter candy chips, butterscotch and then my grandma who loves sweets more than my entire family combined makes heart cookies out of red velvet cake mix and coats them with powered sugar hehehe So basically the whole family gets stuffed full of sugar while we’re all together having a good ol’ time Does anyone else have fun valentines traditions? :0c |
