I can't believe I've actually made it this far...
I swore this comic was going to die before I even introduced Zane...
But I'm actually starting to create the plot I had in my head... and make it move.

The 'Spiral Gate Engine' can be thought of as a sort of Aggregator. It functions to serve as the branching point for all splinters of this universe to grow from-
Wait, what do you mean by 'splinters'? Like fragments of this universe?
Not fragments. Literally OTHER UNIVERSES. I've been over this. Every single idea, every theory, every even remote daydream is a splinter. Once you consider something happening, an entirely new reality splits off with all of the necessary conditions to MAKE that happen. Say you are one place, and instead imagine yourself walking down the street outside. Somewhere, in a newly branched universe, that's what you ARE doing. But to be doing that, a completely different set of causes and effects would be necessary. So that means those causes and effects are set out in a new logical order. The entire universe builds itself up from that necessity. Then, all of the people populating this new alternate universe create billions of splinter universes of their own and vice versa. And every single one has a Spiral Gate Engine to link it back to the Multiversal Latticework. And then they all have one, or more of us to keep their branch under control. See, too many of these branches become a burden on the Multiverse. It begins to cause a multitude of problems that-
From this logic then... we are a splinter universe as well?
Well, thank you for interrupting me, but yes. All existences are a branch. In fact, it has long been a goal of our profession to hunt for the main branch. But the further you go, the stranger the branches become, the more twisted and convoluted they become...
Do you know what sort of universe we came from then? Oh my gosh, I can only imagine-
Quite honestly, you most likely came from yourself in another universe thinking about something. Or maybe you're just a webcomic. It's usually nothing very glamorous. I know that my universe was just some failed moviemaker that lived alone and vaguely conceived some fantasy nonsense before tossing the idea out. My master was assigned to trim off the branchwork of my universe and ended up making me his apprentice before deleting the entire area.
Wait, just delete it? Like that? Gone?
That's the basic idea. Fully fleshed out concepts are generally made to exist until they run their entire course. Meaning, they have a beginning somewhere, which can stretch back to infinity. But once the end of the full idea comes along, like say the villain is killed, they all live happily ever after, that's where it has to stop. It has to be deleted once the goal is fulfilled.
And then all splinter universes must be deleted as well. Like trimming a hedge. That's what has to happen to prevent the multiverse from collapsing.
Well that's... Confusing.
Zane made it way more complicated and wordy than it has to be. But there's something really cool you need to see! You know those games and stories we all come up with all the time...? You can actually see them! This thing makes it real!
It doesn't MAKE it real, it already IS real this is just the branch point-
Whatever, Zane do that thing again with the flashy orb screen thing.
