Echolight heard the screech of the bird. So did the squirrel she was stalking. It darted up a tree and disappeared in the leaves. She sighed but wasn't too annoyed. She had already caught quite a bit and was sure the others had too. She collected all of the prey she caught and padded back to where the patrol had split up.

Foxclaw pricked his ears at the screech of the bird. He hadn't been stalking anything at the time, so he didn't lose any prey. But now all the prey will be in hiding, he thought with a sigh. Might as well go back to where we split up. He gathered up the prey he'd caught, and padded back to the spot.

Swiftbreeze watched her kits tussle together. She purred lovingly when Rosekit was pushed into her belly. She reached down to help her kit, but Rosekit had already jumped up and flung herself back at Squirrelkit. At least she's asserting herself now! Swiftbreeze smiled.

Rosekit growled playfully. She leaped on Squirrelkit and held her down while she batted her sister's ears. "Hey! I didn't know you could fight back!" Squirrelkit exclaimed, trying to push her off. "Well, I decided I wanted to teach you a lesson in modesty!" Rosekit threw back.

Squirrelkit blinked in surprise. Rosekit had never really wanted to fight before. Then she smiled. I have a real playmate now! She shoved her sister off her belly. "Come and get me!" She taunted, and bounded across the nursery.
