Foxclaw dipped his head when Breezeflower slipped away. He padded away silently. He stopped and crouched down, scenting the air for prey.

Swiftbreeze scoffed silently at herself. Don't be such a scaredy-mouse! It was just a dream! She padded back into the nursery. Her kits were still sleeping, but not as deeply. Swiftbreeze settled down beside them, tucking them close with her tail.

Rosekit sneezed. She blinked open her eyes, and saw a tail on front of her nose. "Mama!" She wailed. "Your tail is in my face!" Swiftbreeze moved her tail. "Sorry Rosekit," she said soothingly. "But there's no need to yell, please keep your voice quiet, you don't want to wake your sister."

Squirrelkit squirmed in her sleep. What was that annoying noise? She blinked awake. Swiftbreeze was hushing Rosekit. "Mama!" She wailed. "You woke me up!" Swiftbreeze sighed. "You two are so alike." Squirrelkit tipped her head, confused. Rosekit smirked at her. "I know right, Mama? Squirrelkit's just like me!" Squirrelkit sneered at her sister. She leaped at Rosekit, knocking her over. "Ha!" Rosekit pushed back. "Ha ha!"
