Family Legend: Aiysha's coat looks exactly like the one of her great, great grandmother Akisha. Well. The coat she received for her great deed. This look of burning embers and dancing flames wasn't what her ancestors used to look like. Instead, just the plain brown base that can still be seen under the colorful gift. Why the warm hues? Legend has it that Akisha was just a lioness to her pride. Nothing special. Back then things were simple. The males did the fighting and offered protection while the females hunted and cared for the cubs. The land was in a time of peace and had been for a thousand years. Nothing bad ever happened in their little valley. That all changed when a rogue came through. He seemed harmless enough. He just wanted to pass through. Or so he had said. The pride offered any help to help him on his way. Their generosity, however, was taken advantage of. This rogue stayed and even got close to some of the members, Akisha included. He was quite the charmer. No one had noticed that things were starting to change when he joined the pride ranks. The contention was building. Herds were thinning a little too quickly. Months went by and things only got worse. By the time they realized things were bad, it was already too late. The pride leader told the old rogue he must leave for his deception. With a wicked grin, he agreed to leave claiming his work had already been done. Not only this but that he would return. The pride felt fractured. Some could see how they were manipulated. Others were siding with the rogue. Akisha was one of the few who could see the truth of the situation. The night came when he returned and some of those that believed in him went to his side. There was a conference of sorts that rapidly dissolved into a confrontation. Things got physical. And then the fires began. Wielding a strange power, the rogue summoned flames to the grass that had dried out. Pockets here and there were avoided but soon the fire engulfed most of the plains. The rogue had disappeared leaving the broken pride to fend for themselves. Those that could get out, could be seen running to safety. But there were some that couldn't. Injured. Weak. Young. Old. There were many that couldn't escape. Drawing on her inner strength, Akisha took the time to run past the flames to save those that couldn't save themselves. This huntress and caretaker didn't hesitate to run into the fire to save her friends and family, whether they were divided or not. This act didn't come without consequence. She received burns that singed a lot of her fur. Mostly underneath due to leaping over the flames. After everyone had been saved, weak from her heroics she fell unconscious. She woke up two days later but felt...different. The fur that had been burned off had been replaced but not with her own. It had the look of floating embers and soft fire. The pride told her how they prayed for her safety but the gods must have been watching because the god of light came down to bestow upon her a gift and reminder of her selfless act. He healed her skin and had her fur resemble the flames which she conquered to save her pride, even those that had been so deceived they sided with the rogue. Aiysha relishes the legend of her great, great grandmother. Her selfless act to save those in need regardless of the danger or the chance of injury. She hopes to be as strong and selfless as Akisha. To prove herself worthy of the blessed coat she was born with. There was a theory among her parents that because Aiysha was born with this coat, she will go on to do many great things in her life that are similar to the situation her ancestor endeavored. If it wasn't for the fire in her heart or the symbol of determination upon her coat, she would probably be more afraid of her coats' implications. She can only think of how she wants to prove herself worthy of having the blessed coat of her selfless great, great grandmother Akisha.
