mortimer is a fragile grump, she folds into herself like an origami fortune teller, & all of the messages are brute except for one that says, " make chamomile tea for your stuffed animals. you're tired. " she's sort of spent her childhood standing tall to seem strong & assured in herself, but now she's an adult & she still hasn't convinced anyone. it's a constant game of charades acting out being stubborn & rude, but mort is a terrible actor. honestly, you'd think she'd practiced furrowing her brow in the mirror at least a few times. with all of this, mort makes herself a soft grandpa. the kind that will scold you for staying up late but spend hours reading you bedtime stories once you get tucked in, the kind that seems mad when you're hurt because they care about you so much & what if something worse happened to you ? mortimer is a hug in big arms.
