prompt: Levi can be a bit abrasive with other hounds! He’s very work-oriented, and prefers to focus on only his handler. He has very strict boundaries, and tends to nip if they’re disrespected - he doesn’t like any sort of roughhousing, being sniffed at for too long, or being followed around too closely. As such, he does his best to avoid young pups; even when coming across a wandering pup, he’ll find someone else to pawn it off on as quickly as possible.
That said, Levi never places his own preferences over the safety of others. In the case of a stray pup, he’ll still protect and lead it until he’s found someone better-suited for the job. While day-to-day work as a guard and protection dog mostly allows Levi to keep to himself and his handler, he works incredibly efficiently with other hounds in emergencies.
Very young hounds are often fearful of him, and other adult hounds meeting him for the first time find him cold and aloof; but any who manage to know him or see him in action protecting others, quickly realise Levi’s stoicism is a simple way of getting his job done efficiently and effectively, without distraction. He ultimately feels affection for hounds who realise this and respect his boundaries, even if he only shows it in small and subtle ways, such as walking a bit closer by them and checking in if he hasn’t seen them in a while.

mutts came even came within ten feet of him.
and oh look who came by- a young puppy
bellowed up, small paws skittering against the
floors.

Bruno snarled, making the young hound back up.
i-i just came to play-
responded the pup in a soft anxious voice.
he was visably scared of Bruno, which made Bruno
even for confident in himself.

Hela is quite an agreeable hound and not dog-reactive... unless she's at home off duty and Ada is trying to cuddle another hound. Then Hela's jealous streak rears its ugly head. The black hound's head will pop up over whatever obstacle is in the way, zeroing in on Ada and the offending hound trying to get some kisses and cuddles. In a few seconds Hela will launch over the furniture in the way and crash into Ada.

Hela tries to climb into Ada's lap between her and the other hound, making an odd sound Ada likes to call Hela's "seal impression" with a wide-open mouth and twitching whiskers and high pitched groaning. If Hela is not successful at crowding the poor hound out of Ada's reach, some nibbling and gnawing will occur and likely devolve into play romping.

The times Hela can get into Ada's lap are short-lived-- Ada ends up dumping the black merle back onto the floor. Hela will be content, though, until another hound tries to get some attention instead of her.

In any other instance, Hela is patient and calm with the other dogs. It's only at home, especially when Ada is in the chair she usually sits in after a long day's work. Jealous Hela!

keeper is stationed at the gate and is the first hound any newcomer to the sanctuary encounters. approaching him, he has a very stoic and serious disposition that can make any young dog nervous. they'll be pleasantly surprised to find he's quite amiable and polite when spoken to. keeper still remembers when he arrived as a young pup, alone and confused, and he does not want anyone on the sanctuary to feel that way again. he makes it a point to make the newbies feel calm while they acclimate to their change in scenery. he accompanies them when they tour the grounds and gives a concise rundown of how things work, what to do and what not to do. any dog that mocks, bullies or misleads the newcomers is sure to get a strong scolding from keeper, who is very willing to bite and growl to put the more audacious hounds in place. it gives him pride to see them gradually integrate into their lifestyle, knowing that he helped them get to that point with a little less stress than they would have had he not been there.
