What do they use?: Orlo tripped over a chalky rock, it splitting under his paws into small clumps of reddish chalk as he stumbled across the barren landscape after Kyan, one of his best friends.
"Kyan, what exactly are we looking for?"
"An alien staff! Full of alien magic, very cool stuff." Orlo sighed, trying to rub the dust of his paws.
"We're almost there, you see that cave over there? That's where we're going." The two young Sima's made their way into the cave, Orlo begrudgingly following his adventurous friend.

What do they use? Elymas uses a pine wand similar to this in shape that he crafted himself, initially to use as a prop in his magic shows. After he found out that he was capable of channeling magic (more than his jewel power) through the wand, he polished his wand and crafted it to make it more sturdy. If he didn't have his wand or another similar focus, it is unlikely that he'd be able to use magic other than his jewel power.

Elymas originally began studying magic as a hobby, performing card tricks and other "magical" feats in front of an audience composed of his family and friends. As he grew more invested, he decided to make his own wand. He found a pine branch that he shaped into a wand. Soon after, almost immediately he began noticing that his wand was actually magical, responding to whatever he wanted it to do.

With practice, he learned how to channel his magic into certain effects such as telekinesis (including elemental manipulation where he draws heat, water, or other particles from his surroundings to create more dramatic effects), teleportation of small and medium-sized objects and enchanting objects and liquids to give them specific long-lasting effects. As he grew more proficient in his magic, he decided to make it his profession.

Currently, Elymas runs a small potion shop where he sells potions and other magical items that he made himself. Most of his stock consists of relatively harmless items such as healing potions, enhancement potions that enable better senses, greater strength, dulled emotions, etc., magical windup toys, and other similar things. However, he also partnered with a nearby blacksmith who produces artisan metal items such as necklaces, belts, and swords. Elymas enchants some of the blacksmith's items to have more durability, an ability to magically protect the wearer or wielder, and other such effects. Because of the possibility of misuse, Elymas is extremely careful who he sells much of his stock to, sometimes going so far as to look them up through the government in order to avoid giving his items to a person who will use them for harm. However, he has a compulsive helpful streak and will give away items such as his healing potions or toys to anyone he thinks may need them including the local hospital, to whom he makes monthly donations.
