The desert is a harsh and unforgiving place. It tests those who prowl upon it, draining every last bit of moisture from them.
The sun glares down, the heat unrelenting, turning the sand into what feels like burning coal. But when the sun sets the reprieve is not for long, at night the moon laughs cruelly as it brings the temperature near freezing. It makes you shiver, wishing for the sand to provide the warmth that you once despised
For days it seemed like the odds were stacked against Agan. That this would be where their journey ended.
But lying in the desert forgotten forever, as the winds brushed the sand over them was not their fate. The desert appeared to have a soft heart. On the horizon came a blessing, a lush green paradise. Agan was cautious, wary of the elders warnings of mirages, but other life forms bounded towards the shimmer of water on the horizon. It was a beacon of hope.
The desert wasnt completely merciless. It brougt prey and predator alike together in a temporary truce. Agan couldnโt help but slowly fall in love with the place. The peace and serenity in a truly harsh place. There was nothing more wonderful than Shade and shelter after such a long walk. The water quenched Agans thirst like nothing had before. As they looked around at the zebra and wildebeast who had traveled so far as well he couldnt help but think that if they lived through this harsh land and season, they could live through anything.
Agan went back sometimes, years later. To remind themselves of the struggles theyve already overcome, and how even through the toughest parts of life and the toughest terrains eventually you will find hope, an oasis.
