Superstitious ? Why yes.
Emi once belonged to a *sibyl who had foreseen her own passing. As unnerving as that may sound, the woman had welcomed the spirit of Death to take her, and she'd given her soul willingly- at least, this is what she'd told young Emi before she did leave. After having spent majority of her life under the fortune teller of the tribe, Emi was seen by the tribefolk as a *slegte wese- another harbinger of death for their tribe.

Rumors spread that Emi, being the black hound she is, was able to see and talk to ghosts. And though they were but tales the village children made up to scare one another, the tribesmen were fearful enough to believe that they should ensure the omen be eradicated as soon as possible.

Emi has never since let go of the beliefs her master held in the past- like how owls are considered to be bad omens and must be shooed away, much like what had happened to her in the past. Emi also has yet to confirm if she can actually see spirits, but there have been figures no other hound in the pack can see swimming in her vision at times.

Are they really there ?

The newcomer from the north was rude and solitary. Speedy is trying her best to make friends with the new pack member between her work hours and sleeping, but it's hard! The pups have been the ones spending the most time with Rune-- which isn't fair to either party. Rune does not seem to particularly enjoy the youngsters and the youngsters are just looking for entertainment.

Speedy learns, though, through the pups' gossiping that Rune is a witch! Well, some way a wizard. Does the difference really matter?


"Yeah, he said he was cursed! And if he sneezes, someone gets hurt!"

"Rune told me that the moon marking on his coat gets fuller when he steals another soul!"

"Actually, he told me in secret that if he scratches someone in a fight, they'll die in three years!"


Speedy tries to listen seriously, she really does. But it's preposterous. She's heard of superstitions like walking under ladders and breaking mirrors but it seems the black male is trying to convince everyone he's the walking embodiment of superstitions. It would be one thing if it was just something said to the pups to make them leave but he apparently repeats it when the adults are around, too!

Finally, finally Speedy has the day off when Rune is also resting. She saunters up to the older male, friendly and casual. Rune cracks a vivid green eye at her and snorts.

"Shoo, kid."

Speedy plops down next to him. "I'm hearing some interesting stories from the pups about you. You a storyteller or something?"

Rune lifts his pure black paw. "If I touch you with this paw, you will also be cursed!" He waves it menacingly in Speedy's face. The younger hound rolls her eyes.

"Just say you're not friendly and move on, pal." Speedy sighs, scratching her armpit. "It's simple and it saves your dignity."

"My soul is as black as my coat." He growls with half-hearted heat.

Speedy eyes the white marks among the field of black fur. "...uh-huh, okay, Rune."

"But I'll leave you to it, you grumpy old man."

First a nephew meant to dog sit him fell gravely ill, then people and dogs alike seemed to mysteriously become ill or injured when spending time with the pup. Soon, no one wanted to be around him. He found working the fields rather nice, even if the mares whinnied and kicked at him. But soon, foals on his watch began to disappear, and those born under his care more often than not were still born. While his handler protested the notion he possessed some other worldly ability to harm others, he was officially banned from herding or sentry duty. He spend most of his time wandering the compound, other anxiously avoiding his path. He often comes home with odds and ends. Bones, horns, lost trinkets now discolored and eerie. Omen is not superstitious. He knows exactly what he is capable of.

Dean believed in these monsters, almost all but one. He did not believe in angels - the creatures that are said to protect
and serve. Why would angels exist, if everything he did ended up twisting. He couldn't run free without being caught,
thorns wrapped around his neck; of course, this was all hypothetical. These so-called angels do watch him, he can see their
burned out eyes in every living thing. The deer that he had hunted? Their eyes would not stop looking at him. The rabbit that
got away from his clutches? It haunted his dreams. These angels were not going to protect him - they were going to hunt him.

He swore to himself, that he would catch them first.

Spoons form was also very close, I almost asked if another staff member would help me judge because it was so close. I'll definitely do more 13th hounds in the future, when those days roll around!
