"Lions?" Rosy looks behind her to the distant fence of the sanctuary perimeter before turning back to Speedy. "You mean those overgrown cats?"

Speedy tries to hide her amusement. Not well, but she tries. Rosy frowns at her. "I don't really think of them. They sleep and roar at each other and eat a lot of raw meat... if only I could eat that much raw meat." Her tone turns wistful.

"The cubs are cute I guess--"

"No, a real one. A real wild lion." Speedy interrupts, leaning forward. "Haven't you seen one from the truck? Or seen one on the horizon when we go check on the herds? Julian sometimes has to scare them off."

Rosey is instantly more alert. "Wait, those things are out there? In the park?" The old pup is alarmed.

Speedy scratches behind her ear. "Yeah, they're all over the place. Apex predators, I think? And they live and hunt in these huge packs like dogs! Lions are practically impossible to see since they blend into the dead vegetation so well... oh and the grass. They erupt out of the grass and chase down their prey. It's so cool!"

Rosy, meanwhile, is looking more and more horrified. "... i think i'll just stay in the truck next time, thanks..."
