extra: Before Benji first came to Ibizan Sands, he was assumed to be a potcake down in the bahamas. No one really knows how he got there, but he was considered a local legend because of his bright colored fur and green eyes. Not many people knew where he hung around, sometimes it was beneath a palm tree in the shade over looking the waves or it was behind a local business hunting for scraps. He was best known for his constant appearance by the docks every night, sitting on the white sand and singing away to the moon. There was a local group who caught and rehabilitated strays and they've always wanted to give Benji a better home because he deserved it. So after months of attempts to catch him, they finally succeeded. They showed him compassion, love, and what a home could be like for him. The local group knew of Ibizan Sands and got in contact with me, explaining how they believed Benji was a Senegal Hound and would like for me to take him on and train him.
I agreed wearily because sometimes dogs who have been strays for that long have the potential to be feral, but i had hope this one was able to be trained.
Roughly a year now has gone by and Benji is one of the best trained dogs I have the honor of training. His willingness to please, his on/off switch and control is something I was not expecting. He has proved me wrong time and time again about my doubt.
