Hope it's alright to make a mini story about this oof wrote:
Winter's not even her favorite season, so even the things she does enjoy about this time of year are tinged with 'You know, today could be a lot warmer than it is now.' But, like with every year, winter is accompanied by a trip to a colder place for her pack to prepare for a traditional winter festival.
That's not to say Iso hates winter, but there are distinct and particular things she can tolerate about the season, and distinct and particular things she will not stand for. (The crunching snow is admittedly fun-- the resulting wetness and cold, less so.)
For one. The annual sled rides. Getting dressed up. Having an itchy bow on her tail that she's always dying to bite at. That's fine, whatever-- Master knows best and all that, and if he wants Iso leading a sled, then she'll do it with aplomb. What she really looks forward to is the treat rewarded as a job well done. So long as that treat is guaranteed, she adores the sleds. And the harnesses.
And yanno? Iso can live with the bow. Just for this one occasion, at least, it looks pretty good on her, she'd say.
And the kids. The human children that tug on her ears. And her harness. And her bow. She could do without the tugging.
But the kids themselves... they're... ah okay, they're alright. She honestly adores the kids, they're sweet. They always smell super interesting too, and they always give her food. Napping next to a chilled, drowsy kid indoors after a long afternoon is always nice as well. Especially when they bring their snacks with them.
And though she can say she likes the kids, she cannot handle them on her own. One incident with a lost child last year that she dare not name again puts her off from dealing with them in the inches of snow during the sleigh rides. Iso'll unashamedly bark up a storm to keep the tiny bodies corralled where they're supposed to be (and not wandering around her, thank you), and she'll even go as far as to not move in the sleigh if a child she deems too young is left alone in her carriage.
She's been labeled "difficult," "wary," and "guarded" by more than one human dam or sire, but she cannot bring herself to care. They can go bother some other hapless dog or master during the festival.
And yanno? She'd say she doesn't quite care for some of the dams and sires of the children, either.
