There are many, many places to hide within the forests the Wikimak lions reside in. There are trees that stretch to the heavens with empty, hollow bodies. There are tree limbs of smaller trees and burrows to find and hide in. There are even spaces along the long, desolate beach, among the jagged rocks and the moving waves, But Nokomis's most special hiding place is in the mane of her beloved. When the world becomes too much, whether it be the memories of separation or the responsibilities and consequences of being a leader, she runs to her beloved and nuzzles her face within his long and bushy mane. He always seems quick to huddle over her in such cases, making her feel all the more secure. At times they sit for quite a while, basking in each others silence as one hides within the other. But it is a comfortable silence. One that is easily shared and never a burden. (160 wc)

It had started out as nothing more than a large rock, in a small clearing among the trees in their pride lands.

But Nika, the sometimes simple lion that she is, kept returning to it, lying against the rock whenever she needed a moment of quiet. And in the midday sun, she would sometimes take a small nap there, resting peacefully.

Other members came to refer to the rock, not creatively, but still as "Nika's rock." And knowing she went there to relax, others left her, and the rock, be. There was hardly anything special about it to them, but she had grown fond of it, and there was no reason for them to interfere with that. She did have the tendency to grow very attached to things, even if it was just a rock or some other inanimate object.

Eventually, Nika began paying a little more attention to different sorts of rocks and stones in her travels through the pride lands and the surrounding areas, all because of her rock.

It was not long, then, before she started gathering up unique or interesting stones, at least those that she managed to carry back, and begin to arrange them within the very clearing where only the one large rock had originally stood.

Since then, Nika has amassed a hefty collection of small rocks, and the occasional larger ones with the assistance of other pride members lending her a paw in her new hobby. She spends much of her free time arranging them and rearranging them, forming a pleasant and almost therapeutic rock garden which she has become very proud of, and still considers to be her own little sanctuary. Though, sometimes she is willing to let others to relax there or join her in arranging them, too.

Underneath the cave the camp is settled in, there is sets of tunnels which lead to wild and strange places, outlawed by the pride for it's dangers. Known for flooding and cave-ins, Freesia has found one place amongst the chaos that it her personal safe haven, a home away from home. A small cave, slipped away between one passage and another, where gently glowing crystals descend from the ceiling and a lake of clear clean water lines the floor. The water so pure and still that the reflection that stares back up at you is near perfect.
Freesia likes to groom and clean her fur, admiring her reflection on good days but on bad days when she needs to hide from the world she lets her tears fall into the water. Watching the ripples flick across the water is calming to her and straightens her out. When the days are their worst but she still needs to hide away she's built a fancy nest where she can sleep at peace, surrounded by the dim glow of the crystal, listening to the distant drip of water somewhere else. Deep, deep, into the belly of the dark lands, down through a long tunnel into places other lions couldn't bear, She who Seeks hides away. In the empty heart beneath the territory she takes solace in the great secret cavern. When the pride was driven out from their ancestral home, much of their past and story was lost. She who seeks has turned her hideaway into both a place of her own and a place of history of her pride. With pigments from the few plants that do grow in the mistlands, she paints old tales on the stony walls, hoping that one day when she passes and a new lorekeeper rises, that the old ways will not be forgotten.
