(Ohmygod I started writing this long winded prompt and now I’m realizing that wasn’t necessary I’m so sorry I tried to keep it short but I think I failed)
Featuring vanilla bean’s Bianca!
Salem has always been a hypersensitive heifer. As odd as it sounds, she would often times find herself sobbing over the smallest things, oftentimes not even sad things. A sad scene in a movie? Tears. An adorable newborn calf? Tears. Accidentally dropped her cookie on the floor? Tears. Many other Buttermilks would tease her for the frequency of her breakdowns, but Salem was unapologetically emotional. The others tended to focus on her sorrow, but she had strong emotional reactions when happy, scared, angry, etc.
Not only was Salem a sensitive being, she was often reminded of how overly empathetic she was. The heifer would feel the same pain as any friend, comrade, or stranger around her, sometimes even more so. Seeing a loved one in pain tended to add on to the stress of whatever bad news had started the reaction.
One day, Salem was taking a stroll through the park. The sun was strong, and the heifer’s dark coat was heating up quickly. She decided to take a break and sit underneath a shady tree. She noticed another Buttermilk who had a similar idea, and plopped down in the grass beside her. Salem was never opposed to making a new friend.
Salem stayed silent as she studied her new potential pal. This heifer was different looking than most other cows around. Her pure white coat seemed to radiate a mystic aura. A horn had sprouted from her head and gleamed even when hidden from the sun’s rays. There was a sparkle in her magical looking, rainbow infused eyes.
Wait... was that a sparkle? Salem had been taken so aback by the unusually gorgeous heifer that she did not realize that those sparkles were not magic, but sadness. She gently greets the cream colored heifer beside her, but was shocked when the stranger snapped at her. It didn’t occur to Salem that not everyone likes to be pestered by well-intentions Buttermilks when they’re down in the dumps. Just seeing someone upset already brought tears to the sensitive cow’s eyes, but having been snapped at sent her over the edge. There was no blinking back the tears now.
The white unicorn heifer, who eventually introduced herself as Bianca, inquired as to why Salem was now crying. Salem, between tears and sniffles, explains that she is overly empathetic, and that seeing others in pain causes her to feel that pain as well. Salem questioned Bianca as to what was causing her so much heartbreak. The magic heifer had Salem look around the park, pointing out all of the happy cows and calves frolicking around in the sunshine. The beautiful Buttermilk explained how she had lost her mother when she was born. Although many years had passed, it was hard for her to watch mothers and babies enjoying the time they spent together.
That’s when the waterworks really came. Upon hearing about Bianca’s tragedy, tears began flowing out of Salem’s eyes like a dam had burst. She hugged Bianca tightly despite only having met her mere minutes ago. The embrace managed to soothe both heifers, and the tears began to fade away. Salem, still sniffling a bit, offered for Bianca to continue on a walk with her. She smiled at Salem, and decided to join her. A meeting that began with tears evolved into a walk around the park with smiles and giggles, as well as a friendship that began in the most unusual way.
(TL;DR - she’s a v sensitive and overly empathetic bab that saw Abi’s girl sad and that made her sad and start crying)
