Pyrenean Wolfhounds are a breed recently discovered roaming the Pyrenees mountains, by a group of hikers. These hikers found a small pack of the breed, and brought it to the attention of local scientists, who have deliberated and decided that these dogs originated from the Russian Wolfhound, or as they’re more commonly referred to, the Borzoi. Their theory is that a small group of them was released- perhaps escaping from a campsite or home- or a crashed truck. Over quite a long time, the dogs began to adapt slightly, and develop a hardy body, equipped with grippy paw pads that allowed for them to scale the mountains more easily. Despite being feral dogs, they have cheerful, friendly personalities, and are now open to being adopted out to homes. Although they’re quite a rare sight, scientists have begun to breed them and they’ve become a favorite among families and singles alike.

As a pup Dalmeny was quite outgoing and curious, always leading his siblings into whatever shennigans they could find. But one day it didn't go as well as usual, the pups were playing in the back yarf where a pool had been set up, and of course, Dalmeny was the first to investigate, and he jumped in head first, and was quickly submerged in cold water, he was quickly rescued by the scientist who was raising them, but ever since he has refused to go near water, and will only drink it out of low bowls as long as his nose won't get wet, he even will go out of his way to avoid puddles.

You know this sound, as you’ve heard it many, many times before. Your owner begins to unravel a poly thermal cord and you know you only have moments before the screeching begins. You dart your large body under the master bed. You know from experience that your owner can only get so far under there with the screaming machine that sometimes sucks up the extra pieces of food you were saving in the kitchen. Your owner says “Elliot, it’s just the vacuum buddy!” But this does not calm your anxiety. You stay safely hidden away from this ‘vacuum’ thing.

thor was, of course, named as a newborn, long before his fear would become known. in fact, he didn't experience his first thunderstorm until he was five months old. it was the middle of the night when poor thor was awoken by the awful loud clap. he was frozen at first, curled into his bed, heart pounding too loud in his ears. it wasn't until bright flash that lit up the room that thor took a running leap towards the kitchen door: he'd seen how his humans opened it often, but it was difficult with just paws and jaws to work with. and then came the next terrible crash and thor was howling and yelping, eyes rolling. his humans, luckily, were light sleepers and awoke quickly, and were able to keep him from doing himself or anything else any permanent damage. the only way to induce any sort of calm in thor when a thunderstorm hits is to let him take shelter under one of the beds and allow him ride it out.

While Dottie loves being around people, she can only handle individuals or small groups of people she knows. She wasn't well socialized as a puppy, left mostly with her mother and siblings, so getting used to humans takes time. It's something her owners are working on, but they're moving at a pace that's most comfortable for her. They only adopted her recently, so they have a long way to go.
