First Meeting
434 words
Miana scrolled through her phone, listing after listing for businesses and weekend destination spots, a small smile across her lips as she planned a weekend of excitement and shenanigans for herself, and her husband. She paused briefly as she curiously studied one that was some sort of adoption agency. She flipped through a few pictures of the giant, awkward creatures and gave a light shrug, storing it in her mental pocket for later as she continued her quest for ideas.
"What do you mean she's making you work this weekend?" She hissed at her husband, her golden eyes narrowed at him as she fumed. Of course it wasn't his fault. She'd be giving that woman a piece of her mind later, how dare she. "Some stakeout thing. Boring as anything. You know I'd rather be with you. We can do it next weekend. I'm both intrigued and terrified of what you came up with. I'll make it up to you by saying yes to literally anything." Though he regretted those words immediately, recognizing the evil glint in her eyes. "Anything? Even a mani-pedi?"
Miana stood at the gates of the skepluvia agency's property, studying it with vague disinterest as she strolled in. She had no plans of adopting anything, she was simply here to kill some time. The first sandy field she came to almost made her laugh. She leaned on the fence and watched in amusement as someone she assumed to be an employee, or maybe a volunteer, kept trying to catch one of the large, spiky-tailed creatures. The skepluvi, however, did not want to be caught and kept speed-walking away every time the person got close. After fifteen minutes of watching the failed attempts at a capture, she grew bored and moved on to the next sandy field. She found what she presumed to be a queen and a ritten, casually lumbering around and being cute. After several more stops, she came to the final field and she froze, her eyes glued to one skepluvi. It was black with brown accents and only bits of white. It was following a human around, carrying a bucket of something in it's mouth. She didn't have the capacity to wonder what was in the bucket, all she could do was stare enraptured by the skepluvi. The black and brown skepluvi turned it's large head and caught sight of her, bobbing its head in a greeting and she could swear she saw it smile. It was at that moment she knew she would be leaving with a new companion. "My husband is going to kill me.."
