Pyrenean Wolfhounds are a breed recently discovered roaming the Pyrenees mountains, by a group of hikers. These hikers found a small pack of the breed and brought it to the attention of local scientists, who have deliberated and decided that these dogs originated from the Russian Wolfhound, or as they’re more commonly referred to, the Borzoi. Their theory is that a small group of them was released- perhaps escaping from a campsite or home- or a crashed truck. Over quite a long time, the dogs began to adapt slightly, and develop a hardy body, equipped with grippy paw pads that allowed for them to scale the mountains more easily. Despite being feral dogs, they have cheerful, friendly personalities, and are now open to being adopted out to homes. Although they’re quite a rare sight, scientists have begun to breed them and they’ve become a favorite among families and singles alike.

favorite memory: Oh boy. Planchie’s favorite memory is his first walk on the beach. Planchie loves everything about the beach, from the cool salty water, to the little crabs that burrow in the sand. Oh his first walk on the beach, he was walking and then, without him expecting it, the tide rose. He jumped at this sudden contact of water and ended up completely submerged in the water, pulling his owner in with him. His owner laughed as she was playing around with him, shielding herself as he shook off the water from his fur. He climbed into her lap as they sat on the shore of the beach, being cooled off by the water which they were sitting in, and watching the sun set on the beach. That was Planché’s favorite memory <3

favorite memory: It was August 22, 2017. The war was raging in Afghanistan, Gunner was with his owner, a soldier in the war. Gunner finally graduated the army dog school and was in his first war, he was trained to go into buildings and flushing out enemies. The war has been raging for nearly 2 years. Gunner knew two things: find enemies and destroy them and wars will never end. He ended up taking down one of the leaders of a known drug Lord in Afghanistan. Him and his owner received a medal of honor, this made Gunner proud. This is his favorite memory.

favorite memory: Lucas had been lost, as a small pup, later found by his forever home owner and taken in with all of the warmth and love that any puppy could ever desire. One of the first places his new mom had taken him after his settling in was the dog park, where he met his best friend Daisy. While he was a rather large dog, and Daisy was a sweet and docile Chihuahua, they became fast friends that day at the dog park and have been inseparable ever since. When they’re not together, he often takes naps and dreams of the their first day together again.

Reid’s favorite memory was his first crime scene. He was a new 1 year old recruit and he was investigating the disappearance of a small girl with the FBI’s BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) in a small rural town. He traveled by air with the team and they spent days trying to track her. Reid himself was very nervous and worried about the girl. He tried his best to get a scent while out in the woods. Then finally after three days of searching, he caught a scent and lead the FBI and Police to the culprit. Reid then lead investigators to the little girl.
The little girl was so happy to see Reid and his team. She ran up to him and threw her arms around him. “Good Doggie” echoes in his mind constantly and that little girl is a constant reminder of why he keeps pushing and fighting to find missing people.
