Under several layers of fancy clothes and a collection of tophats lies
a kalon who's less enthusiastic about the living than he is about the dead.
Under his polite guise hides a kalon who would actually rather never
interact with the outside other than ordering ingredients for experiements
than having to cure whatever "curse" madam Sue thinks she has.
But reputation comes first, and helping your neighbour is a must to keep
it good, says Thomas to get himself out of bed every morning.

The one thing that intrigues him the most, the one thing he decided not
to speak of or show others is his research about ghosts and spirits.
What if, he often muses when he's alone in his study, what if he could
call and control the spirits of the dead, to make them do as he tells, to
make them dance to the rhythm he claps?
Oh, of all his numerous
experiements, why does this one have to fail every
time he tries to make it happen?

But it happened on a cold winter day that finally, after all those trials
and errors, his experiement worked.
He was in his study at the time, burying himself in his most treasured
book of spells, muttering a single spell over and over in a half-asleep
stupor when he felt a touch on his back.
A chill ran down his spine as he shot up from his chair, now fully
awake again. He didn't understand it. He was alone. And yet...
And when he turned around? Well, let's just say that every ounce of
courage and bravery escaped him in one cold breath.
He didn't dare to move.
There it was, before him, a ghost.

As space travel was developed far enough, Terrans started with building colonies on suitable planets. The first one is on a planet they called Pangaea. Terrans didn’t care much about it. They didn’t send food or other supplies. Pangaeans were on their own quite soon after the colony was built. So, the civilisation had some sort of “fresh start”.
Centuries passed since then. Pangaeans forgot they originally came from a different planet. They forgot how far their technology was developed already. Parts of the old spaceships had become new machines. They found a metal close to iron, coal and fossil oil. They built their cities and learned to build machines from the beginning. A new civilisation, far from current terran standards.
Long story short, Tom will live in some sort of Steampunk AU.

History:
Tom was born as a child to a mechanic and a pilot. His mother quit her job to save all her time for her beloved son. When Thomas was nine years old, she started to work again. As a pilot of an air ship that carried commodities from one city to another. About one year later, she had a terrible accident. Her airship carried fuel. It caught fire and crashed into the side of a mountain. Toms mother died in this accident.
His father tried everything to keep his boy away from flying ever since. He took his son to his workshop quite often, and as the boy was old enough, he took him as his apprentice. Tom learned quickly and was as good as his father quite soon. Business went well, so Thomas‘ father decided to open up a second workshop in a different city. This one was meant for his son.
Tom was twenty-five now. He enjoyed being able to care for himself and have a life and a workshop on his own. He took strolls through the city and the lands around to gather stuff he could use as replacement parts. Most of these are used for the machines of his customers, some are used to make clocks that are sold in his shop. But some of these parts are saved for his hobby.

Hobby:
Despite his fathers fear, Toms biggest dream is flying. Just like his mother did. In his own airship preferably. Thats why he uses every free minute to work on his dream. Replacement parts he doesnt need for other machines, are put into his airship.
His clocks are also a hobby somehow. He loves to invent new types, give them new twists, just like the alarm clock robot that keeps running from you. Thomas can be quite craative with those.

Personality:
Tom is a quite relaxed guy. It needs a lot to make him angry. If he gets paid to little, it was probably because they were in a hurry. If people complain, they probably had a bad day. He sees the very best in everyone first and it needs some serious issues to change his mind. Some might call it naive, he prefers the word positiv thinking.
When repairing something he is endlessly patient. Everything works out at some point, and if he has to try a hundred times, he will. Giving up is not an option, as people trust in him. There would be nothing worse than to let someone down.
Same thing for his father. He doesnt want to trouble him, so he will only ask him for help if there is no other chance anymore. Also Tom feels really bad for lying to his dad. But telling him about the dream of an own airship isnt an option. Thomas knows his father wouldnt be able to do anything against it, as the boy is old enough to care for himself. But he also knows his father would be worried all day if he knew. So keeping it a secret seems the best way.
Tom doesnt have lots of friends, as he has no time for them. He spends most of his time in the workshop or on his strolls outside. Friends often accused him of only hanging out with them to find new stuff. They were right actually... He simply cant leave his work completey behind. You've got to enjoy airships if you want to spend time with him. He'll probably allow you to sit next to him, when he works on his.

Clothes:

These were actually designed for a different kal I didnt win. But they were supposed to live in the same world as tom now and basically were ment to have the same occupation. So I thought why not recolour them and give them to Tom instead. There is a version of him wearing them here

Tish loves to read, so she's constantly going to the library and checking out books. Either her backpack is filled with fresh books coming from the shelves or a few books that she's currently reading.

She also loves to write, and she's working on three novels. She's good at multitasking, which is why she's able to read and write books so quickly. She prefers to write in different colors so she can see the difference in her sentence variety. It helps Tish become a better writer and to see what she needs to change later when she uploads things digitally. Her second step to writing is editing her novels on a document before uploading them to a writing site. On there, people can critique or compliment her work. After this, Tish can continue to make changes before contacting a publisher. She also has a simple Android phone with the basic messaging app, Facebook, and Twitter only to get publicity.

Tish is a bit of a germaphobe, and she gets sick easily. She loves writing outside in parks or cafes, but if she's sick she's stuck at home and her inspiration is limited.

She also currently lives alone in an apartment; she only has one key for the front door, a second key for the building mailbox, and a third key for the lock on her bicycle. Tish doesn't have a car, and she prefers biking everywhere. Just in case she's on her bike for a long time, she has a water bottle to stay hydrated. Although she doesn't drive, she has a license from when she first learned to drive at seventeen. It hasn't been updated since, and she doesn't plan to. Tish keeps it in her wallet. On top of that, she doesn't keep very many bills in her wallet, but just enough for cafes and diners. Like the water bottle, she has some granola bars just in case she doesn't have enough money to go to a cafe or diner.
