Pyrenean Wolfhounds are a breed recently discovered roaming the Pyrenees mountains, by a group of hikers. These hikers found a small pack of the breed and brought it to the attention of local scientists, who have deliberated and decided that these dogs originated from the Russian Wolfhound, or as they’re more commonly referred to, the Borzoi. Their theory is that a small group of them was released- perhaps escaping from a campsite or home- or a crashed truck. Over quite a long time, the dogs began to adapt slightly, and develop a hardy body, equipped with grippy paw pads that allowed for them to scale the mountains more easily. Despite being feral dogs, they have cheerful, friendly personalities, and are now open to being adopted out to homes. Although they’re quite a rare sight, scientists have begun to breed them and they’ve become a favorite among families and singles alike.

Dakota is a warm, loving dog who's happiest when he's spending time with his owners. In the house, he follows them from room to room just to be near them, and when they snuggle up on the couch at night to watch a movie, he sprawls across their laps. He's very empathetic, sensing when his humans are sad or angry, and he always tries to comfort them if he can.

When outside, he still sticks by his owners, but he is friendly toward other dogs and people. While he's a bit shy at first, it doesn't take him long to warm up to others as long as they're patient with him. He's even gentle around smaller animals, like cats or rabbits. His prey drive is low, meaning he's more likely to make friends than give chase.

His favorite thing in the world is his squeaky squirrel toy, much to the dismay of his family when they hear the loud squeak, squeak, squeak at 3am.

personality: Steele is a quiet, polite wolfhound who is the last dog to be blamed for the chicken being eaten off of the counter (unlike his mischievous siblings and friends!). He is obedient to a fault to his owners, and is willing to do anything they desire at a moment's notice, which has caused them to make him the mascot of Dark Wind Kennels. His gentle persona also means that he is wonderful with kids, and he has been therefore registered as a therapy dog. He visits hospitals every other Tuesday to make sick children feel better and motivate them to heal faster, and seems to quite enjoy it. Steele can be standoffish if you do not click with him right away, but would never bite or even growl without a very good reason. His favorite activity in the world is lounging on the couch... and bonus points if another dog or a human is with him!
