What is a Pyrenean Wolfhound? wrote:Pyrenean Wolfhounds are a breed recently discovered roaming the Pyrenees mountains, by a group of hikers. These hikers found a small pack of the breed, and brought it to the attention of local scientists, who have deliberated and decided that these dogs originated from the Russian Wolfhound, or as they’re more commonly referred to, the Borzoi. Their theory is that a small group of them was released- perhaps escaping from a campsite or home- or a crashed truck. Over quite a long time, the dogs began to adapt slightly, and develop a hardy body, equipped with grippy paw pads that allowed for them to scale the mountains more easily. Despite being feral dogs, they have cheerful, friendly personalities, and are now open to being adopted out to homes. Although they’re quite a rare sight, scientists have begun to breed them and they’ve become a favorite among families and singles alike.
For this wolfhound, explain something he had to overcome and how. maximum of 200 words. minimum 50.
Ends July 28th.

Name: Vixxen
Age: 3 years, 11 months
Collar Color: Velvet Red w/ gold buckles
Answer: Vixxen's always had a tough life. She lost her sister, Kezna, at a young age. Her mother abandoned them both; she never really wanted pups, she instead found them a waste of time. The death of Kezna hit Vixxen so hard that she refused to hunt and resorted to starving herself. She stumbled across a friendly stray pack one day though, they decided to take her in. She's now thriving, but she faces many difficult obstacles each day. {I'm sorry this is terrible; I'm tired ^^}

Name:
Ryann
Age:
2
Collar Color:
Red
Answer:
Something that Ryann has had to overcome was being the runt of the litter. He was born the smallest of the litter and his litter mates would constantly pick on him for it. He felt even smaller emotionally than he was physically. He felt like he was never going to be good enough for anybody and he never really interacted with other dogs because his litter mates would always make fun of him.
As the months went by and he and his litter mates grew up, he grew to be the tallest one and strongest of the litter. Behind taller and stronger than his litter mates made him feel so much better. Now everyone wanted to be friends with him and talk to him, and that made him feel good about himself. After months of bullying and teasing, he finally got the upper ground over his litter mates and has never let them bully him again

Call name: Odd.
Age: Three + a half. [3.5 yrs]
Collar Color: xXx or black w/ gold buckles.
Answer: Odd was born within Trovista Key kennel to a healthy dam and sire. Both parents were trained in agility and racing, which the litter would follow suite. Odd was the second biggest pup within a litter of four, however one puppy didnt make it at birth due to being stillborn. Though as time went on, and the puppies continued to grow and become more and more mobile, they noticed that Odd wasn't doing very well. After a check up at the vet's, he was diagnosed with swimmer syndrome. It was suggested by professionals that Odd shouldn't take part in any sport relating to the use of his hind-quarters, even if he were to recover.
Over the next few months of his life, he had been through many different therapies to get him on his legs, literally. It was a long road, even now at almost four years the dog struggles. Although he's able to run and bounce around freely, he still has a weird gimp to his hind-quarters. And sometimes it even causes his a little bit of pain, when he lies down, his hauches still kick out like when he was a puppy. A constant reminder of his rough start.
What's swimmer syndrome:
The term 'swimmer' is used to describe a puppy that paddles his legs much like a turtle, but is unable to stand. A puppy should be standing and walking by three weeks of age. As a result of weak muscles in the rear limbs, swimmers are generally unable to stand at the normal age.
Symptoms:
The only symptom of a swimmer puppy is his inability to stand or walk by the normal age of three weeks. The puppy will instead lay on his chest and paddle his feet as if attempting to swim in a turtle-like fashion.

Name: Bucky
Age: 5
Collar Color: storm blue-grey
Answer:
Bucky was always afraid of storms since he was left alone outside during one when he was a puppy. When he grew older his fear got even worse so he was just laying in the corner on his bed crying during storms. Nothing helped until he met Alicia. She was a bit smaller than him. Since they met Alicia always comforted Bucky during storms by laying next to him and cuddling him, refusing to leave him. Over the time Alicia gave Bucky secureness so she could leave him for a moment. One day during a storm the electricity fell out. Bucky didn’t knew it, but Alicia was afraid of the dark. In this storm, he had to comfort her. But comforting her let him forget his own fear. Since then he isn’t afraid of storms anymore. (Okay sometimes he is still a bit afraid especially when there is very loud thunder but mostly he had overcome his fear.)
