Fave Non-Equestrian Sport~ I'm a huge fan of both of the canine sports of Flyball and Rally Obedience!

Flyball is a dog relay sport involving two teams. Each team must run down a lane containing three jumps, grab a ball from a small spring-loaded box, and return the ball over the three jumps. Then the next dog runs until all four dogs have run. Fastest team to get two points wins, with one point being awarded for being the faster team to complete the course. (The course is run up to three times.) Faults are given for dropping the ball and not bringing it back, skipping a jump, and crossing the start line before the previous dog has crossed back over it. Fun fact: Crufts 2019 included a time-record-tying Flyball Tie, the first ever seen in the event. (Video jumps to the run in question.)

Rally Obedience, also called Rally-O, is quite the opposite of Flyball. Whereas Flyball is energy and speed, Rally Obedience is precision and focus. Rally-O focuses on the ability of a dog to respond to verbal and visual commands while following a set of directions at markers, from weaving through cones with the dog by your side, to backing up at a heal, to changing direction. It is a test of agility, precision, and the dog's ability to understand what is being asked of it. Unlike many sports, a blind dog could compete in Rally-O for most of the lower levels with few issues. Every pair (canine and handler) starts with a score of 100 and points are deducted for hesitations, incorrectly done obstacles, and bad technique. An ideal Rally-O team can communicate flawlessly to convey their goals to each other, completing the course as if doing a well-orchestrated dance.

Fave Non-Equestrian Sport~ My favorite Non-Equestrian is Colorguard even though it has been a little while since actually doing this sport. I love it with a passion due to the amount of creativity it envolves as well as it just being something I found to be really fun, and I good emotional outlet for me. I would say that my favorite experience with Colorguard would either the trip our Colorguard and the marching band took to Florida my first year of Colorguard or my second year during solo competition when I managed to do better than my first year and got a division one rating. I would say my least favorite memory I have with Colorguard would be having to say goodbye to my team or the time while practicing my solo the prop I was using fell onto my foot during a toss and completely bruised my foot, but I did manage to still perform my solo the next day.

Fave Non-Equestrian Sport~ Ooo ok honestly this is hard. I don’t really have time to play other sports other than equestrian, but as a dog lover who’s conveniently around horse jumps all the time, I trained my dog Lucky to do agility. It’s definitely a really interesting sport, though I don’t compete I just do it with my boyo for fun! It’s similar to jumpers in horses, where the dog has a series of obstacles to get through and they are timed. Challenges can include jumps, weave poles, tunnels, chutes, ramps, and sometimes hoops! I have a set of weave poles, a ramp, a chute, and some jumps that a neighbor had no use for and gave to me. It’s a really fun sport that engages both dog and trainer! Training a dog comes with so many good things, and the rewards are endless! It’s something that can strengthen you and your dog’s bond times a million. When I first trained my dog he was five, now he’s eleven, really quite old for a large dog. He can’t jump high like he used to, and he runs out of energy much faster, but when he sees the course set up in the yard he still gets incredibly excited and immediately runs to the course and sits, waiting to see what game we’ll play today. It’s a hobby that you and your dog can have in common forever, and with such limited time you have with your dog, it’s best to spend it all to the fullest and make it exciting for both owner and doggo.

Thank you for the opportunity! Good luck everyone! So handsome @ShadowStarFang whoever wins is lucky lol! :) <3

Fave Non-Equestrian Sport: I've never been a very competitive person & I'm not much for actual sports that are non-equine related. I do, however, enjoy archery & going to the gun range to practice my shot!

Fave Non-Equestrian Sport~ Schutzhund! It's basically where your dog (usually German Shepherds, but it's open to all breeds) goes through a series of three trials: protection, tracking, and obedience. It's kinda hard to explain exactly but it's so cool and I'd love to do it one day when I have a dog of my own
