Username;; Thunder.Collects
Cat Name;; Tinyflower
Gender;; Female
Age;; 32 Moons
Clan;; CreekClan
Rank;; Warrior

Prompt;; (250 words and 300 word extra)
Most cats see befriending animals of other species as a bad thing to do and highly discouraged it. Who would trust a fox or a twoleg after all? Tinyflower had a best friend a long time ago who was a mouse. She spent a lot of time with the mouse and even joined CreekClan with the mouse hidden in her fur. However, one day, her best friend, Koiberry, found the mouse and saw it as prey inside the camp, looking to eat away at Snowheart's herb storage, and she killed the poor creature. Tinyflower didn't realize the mouse's poor fate, instead, she thought he went on an adventure, knowing just how much he enjoyed a good adventure, however, she did sense the danger of him being alone. She explored the territory for him, using the familiar "language" they made up to communicate to try and find the lost animal, but she couldn't find him. She returned to camp, upset and discouraged, feeling abandoned, wretched, and sad. Maybe he left her because she was living in a big group of cats now? It did make sense, even if Tinyflower didn't want to admit it. She knew how much her mouse hated cats, she was an exception. Koiberry sensed how upset her friend was, and wanted to help, even if she didn't know why Tinyflower was sad. So, doing what any friend would, she brought Tinyflower prey from the fresh-kill pile. Little did Tinyflower know that it was her own little pet. She realized when she saw the familiar marking on his ear and was completely angry with her clanmate. She lashed out angrily, threatening her clanmates with death or an omen from StarClan, however, she calmed down very quickly and apologized. Koiberry accepted the apology and apologized too, and together, they buried the little mouse. Tinyflower believes that the loving rodent lives in a similar place as StarClan, where he can eat all the seeds and nuts he wants without worrying about a cat or fox attacking him. She hopes she'll be able to see him once she joins StarClan, and gave him the name "Spirit" after his death.

Tinyflower found Spirit after her parents passed away, so she believed he was a gift from them before they died. She cared for the rodent as much as she could on her own, feeding him and protecting him from other cats, though there was only so much she could do. She feared another cat would eat him, or a fox would attack them both, so they traveled together and found CreekClan. Spirit was an older aged mouse at this time, so he couldn't escape as much as he would have been able to back in his young age. Tinyflower realized this, and blames herself for his unfortunate death, though she believes he is safe now in the stars, so that is enough of an apology for her, even if she continues to miss him. Koiberry visits his grave every once in a while too, showing her true sorrow and disappointment in what happened. Her clanmates laugh sometimes at her, but she lives.

Cat Name;; Sorrelnose
Gender;; Female
Age;; 25 Moons
Clan;; AsterClan
Rank;; Warrior

Prompt;;

Be careful. Danger is near.

Sorrelpaw stopped in her tracks, her eyes round as the moon itself.
The forest was somber-- a mysterious air, she thought, and a sense of adventure, ripe for the taking.
Yet she stopped in her tracks. "What is it, Moony?"

She never gave one thought to what kind of bird it was. Certainly on the smaller side-- ah, brown she'd say, but with an tinge of... blue. Was that too odd?
Well, she'd never know. Birds were food, not friends; except in this particular case. Would Moony consider her a friend?

Moony (dubbed so by the young Sorrelpaw; he only seemed to come out at night, and Moony was better than Starry. Starry was too childish, she decided, and wanted to give him a proper name.) ruffled his feathers, simply issuing another warning.

Pay attention. What is it that you scent?

"Oh-- I--" she stopped, scenting the air; her ears pricked, and hanged back-- "Fox--!"
And she dove into a bush; fear prickling in her pelt.

Image

"And how did you know that?" she lay on the branch, tail lashing; her eyes brimmed with excitement and in awe; he truly seemed to be... magical. "You caught it before I did!"
In order to be a true tracker, one must be at the ready-- watchful, careful, taking in. Little tracker, you have much to learn.

And the days had passed; she considered herself quite good at her role, a true tracker; and when the day came-- oh, how exciting! Her true name, what she always wanted.. she felt whole, complete.

"Little bird, you never told me your name." her ear flicked, and she tilted her head.

Fantasma.
His head bowed, dark eyes untelling;
Remember.

Never a trace, never his song.
After those days-- he was simply gone.

Cat Name;; Cedarheart
Gender;; DFAB (gender unknown), genderfluid but mostly female
Age;; 24 moons
Clan;; Glacial Blizzard Clan
Rank;; Warrior

Prompt;;

It was a stormy and cold winter's eve the night Cedarheart's mother was forced to abandon her kits. Barely three moons old and all alone, the cinnamon calico found herself in more and more of a predicament the more time went on. Stomach growling and with no cats in sight, the young kit's hope was running out. She gulped and did her best to focus on the task at hand; staying out of sight of the twolegs while hunting for an easy meal.

"Where do you think you're going, kit?" A voice growled as she walked past.

It didn't belong to a twoleg, it sounded more like a- "Dog!" Cedarkit had squeaked as she cowered in fear.

The dog, a sleek-coated male Siberian Husky, tilted his head at her. "You didn't answer my question," was all the dog said, investigating the cat with curiosity. "Where is your mother?"

"S-she's gone. Along with my brothers and sisters. The twolegs took them from the village and left me behind..." Cedarkit sighed, eyeing the dog with caution as she was not yet comfortable with his presence.

"I see," the dog replied before he added. "You look hungry, do you want something to eat?"

"Yes please," the kit replied in a shaking tone, her stomach growling loudly.

The dog took a piece of meat from his bowl and gave it to the kitten, who ate it greedily. When it was gone, she gazed back up at him with a more trusting expression.

"Keep out of sight, understand?" The dog explained as he tossed his guest another piece of meat.

Cedarkit nodded. "Yes," she said in between mouthfuls of food. "But, where should I go to wait for my family?"

"I'm Kodiak and I'm going to take care of you now," the dog stated simply.

Cat Name;; Wildspring
Gender;; Female
Age;; 31 moons
Clan;; GealachClan
Rank;; Warrior

Prompt;; Wildpaw had just turned 8 moons old, the age when apprentices could leave camp without a warrior escort. Taking advantage of the newfound freedoms, she ran through the forest with her friends, heading to the Fleeting Tree. It was a huge oak, and home to an angry owl; the elders of the clan spoke of the owl being a spirit, easily angered and best left alone or it would make cats disappear. It was a tale to tell kits, but the warriors recommended to leave the owl alone rather than tempt fate.

Of course, apprentices chose to take their mentors’ words as just a suggestion rather than a hard-and-fast rule; it was an unofficial rite of passage to climb the tree as high as one would dare. Most climbed while the owl was out flying, quickly ascending and leaving before it returned, boasting of their bravery and speed. And now, it was Wildpaw’s turn.

She focussed only on the climb, planning how she would clamber up to the next branch, doing so carefully. She jumped at the sudden yowl from her friends, catching a glimpse of them sprinting away before she realised the owl was swooping in. Wildpaw flinched, crouching low as she braced for the bird’s talons. She opened her eyes to see the owl resting peacefully a few branches above her, fussing at its wing feathers before returning her gaze calmly.

“H-Hi there, Mr. Owl,” she mewed softly, nervously smiling. The owl twittered at her in response, tilting its head inquisitively. Wildpaw felt her fear fade as she began to speak on impulse, explaining what she had done that morning. The owl remained still, listening to the apprentice as she weaved her story.
--

Wildpaw left after only a few minutes, though it felt much, much longer in the tree. She explained to her friends what had happened, their eyes wide with disbelief and retold her experience to the other apprentices, reminding them to not let their mentors know. None of the younger apprentices wanted to test her theory, and the owl seemed to remember the noisemakers’ faces; it would screech and flap its wings when they approached, warning them away. What she didn’t tell any of them is that she planned to revisit.

--

It became Wildpaw’s secret; when she wanted time to herself, she would visit the owl, talking gently about whatever was on her mind. And when Wildpaw became Wildspring, she decided to bring a mouse to the owl, silently inviting the bird to celebrate with her. Their relationship continued on – Wildspring, every few days, would visit the owl and talk, the owl remaining as silent as ever, save for the occasional hoot or call. Before she knew it, Wildspring wasn’t just visiting the owl, but her three owlets, too, telling her tales to them all, happily keeping her story-telling friendship a secret. The kits in the nursery often wanted Wildspring to tell them stories, and when their mothers would praise her story-telling skills, or ask how she had gotten so good, she would simply smile and say, “I befriended someone who just wanted to listen."

Cat Name;; Brightpaw [Brightcricket]
Gender;; Female
Age;; 10 moons
Clan;; Zephyrclan
Rank;; Medicine cat apprentice

Prompt;;
Ever since Brightpaw came to the clan, she has had her little friend. A cricket the apprentice has affectionately named Lucky is almost always seen hopping around the medicine den or exploring with her while she's out learning about herbs, giving little noises if one is quiet enough to listen. Lucky isn't a very loud cricket, and his sound is almost soothing, comforting especially to those that are spending some time in the medicine den getting wounds healed or recovering from a sickness. Lucky has become somewhat of his own charm for the clan, each cat looking forward to seeing how the little bug is doing, taking turns to see which leaves Lucky might like over the others, the apprentices gladly taking on the job of making sure there was fresh water in the den at all times for the bug.

And even when he leaves, it seems the little black cricket always finds his way back into the medicine cat, welcomed with open paws by Brightpaw. Lucky and Brightpaw seem to really have mutual respect for each other; if one listens, they might even hear the soft sounds of conversation and laughter floating through the air as Brightpaw exchanges meows with Lucky, and the cricket shares his own answering chirps. They are good company for one another, giving Brightpaw some companionship when she is sorting herbs or has had a long day of learning... and it really seems like Lucky enjoys camp life too.
