Shadow Flitz (Singular; Shadow Flit) are a long bodies species that have long since lost their hind legs, tail, and eyes to the power of the shadow and have replaced them with mold-able wispy appendages. these large, friendly beasts have been recently tamed to be ridden by humans and anthros alike. They have large, wide front paws, long pointed ears, and short, smooth fur. They can be naturally found in dark caves, wetlands, or thick forests. however have also been spotted in pastures while hunting. They are carnivores- meaning they are only meant to eat meat and they often prey on birds, deer, rodents, and bats.

This babe was originally supposed to be my flit for the staff litter, but I never ended up posting them ;w; but they're here now! They're just a little different from the original, but if the winner wants a transfer onto the old lines, I can edit it a bit and post that!

Anyways, to win this babe, just explain to me how they see!
Can they see using their tail? Or maybe they're blind and they 'see' by hearing? Or maybe they can see just fine using their shadow eyes or using some other contraption they've built! Whatever you want!

How do they see?: Their tail helps them see but in order to use their tail the must latch on to another flit. The tail links with the other flit and what ever that flit sees the tail allows haven to see. It’s kind of like a parasite almost but nobody is injured and most times the flit the tail attaches to Dosnt even know. They weren’t always born blind however they were roaming in a forest when a magical being with huge claws came and attacked the young flit. The damage blinded them so they decided to go visit a witch to see if they could reverse the damage. However the witch couldn’t and decided to try something. That something was giving their tail a spell causing it to grow an eye that had the power to let it see

How do they see?: Oculus is blinded has been since her youth since disease took her sight leaving her in the dark. However, she learned quickly one does not need eyes to see. Oculus merely needs a host to see through.

Oculus can see one of two ways the first is through a "sight host" which can be any living thing with vision. Essentially she bonds with it allowing her to see through it seeing whatever her host sees. This in a sense can be unreliable as she has no control of the host. Leaving her to simply roll with the host's actions. She has a secondary way of sight though it's often more restrictive than connecting with a host. She can also perform a ritual allowing her to essentially have an out of body experience. In which she can wander and see her surroundings though she can only go so far as leaving her physical body unprotected or vulnerable is dangerous. Also without a physical form, she can't handle objects or talk to other living creatures. She has become rather skilled at performing both allowing her to see the world around her.

How do they see?:
When other Flitz are told that Comet doesn't see from her eyes, they tend to jump to the conclusion that she sees from her tail, or perhaps even the eye-like markings on her shoulders. Both assumptions are false, however; her tail and shoulder markings are similar to the eye-like markings on moths: they simply divert attention. This young Flit sees the world from a far more peculiar perspective.

When Comet was young, she "lost" her eyesight in an accident involving an explosion. Instead of her eyesight truly being lost, however, it seemed to have spread out across her entire body.

Although they're not entirely certain, since this has never occurred before, the doctors who have examined Comet suspect that the explosion scattered the shadows composing the young Flit's eyes across the her fur. Since the black dots weren't present on her fur before the explosion, this seems like the most likely option.

Comet is able to transfer her sight to any of the black speckles on her fur. She's also able to "see" from multiple speckles at the same time, though she finds that it takes a lot of concentration, and isn't usually worth the effort. Comet's unique sight makes sneaking up on her extremely difficult, as she's able to see in front, behind, and to the side of her body without moving an inch.
