short history:
There is not much known about the mighty Maikaʻi's past three years of existence, but what has been observed is quite sad indeed. From what local wild pack history, Maikaʻi was born into a very large pack to the lead Kea and Keo, their first and only son. He grew exponentially and took after his strong father, falling within his footsteps.
For the first three years of his life, Maikaʻi was observed to be a loving and caring Keo but held a high esteem among his peers. He was healthy and his beautiful coat shimmered in the deep sunlight. He enjoyed many of the luxuries that his pack provided and simply loved spending his time in the water, but this was soon to change.
There was an equally large pack that was rather malnourished and had been noted to being keen to harshness when it came to one another, in other words, this pack was as close to pure evil as one could get if one were a wild Keakota. They had been watching Maikaʻi's pack and began to even attempt to push their boundaries to weasel onto the lush ground the healthy pack lived upon.
The evil Keakota attacked, their leader a rather large Keo, taking on Maikaʻi's father and killing him. After taking over the pack, he then drove Maikaʻi out of the territory, forcing the once happy Keo into isolation. Maikaʻi called nightly in a manner a lost child would call for their parents, the pain evident in the deep sound.
Maikaʻi was never caught by rustlers or individuals who dared to get close, he was far too smart for that, almost seeming to know exactly where the traps were as though he had watched the humans put them there until he came upon a single human, her antics fascinating him. She was able to win his affection by simply following him like a young Keakota and this fact never bothered him simply because she kept a respectful distance from him and he knew she meant no harm to him. It took time, but he loved this human like she was one of his own pack, not allowing any other human to get too close to her, marking her as his own.
