He's overjoyed by his own freedom, because he didn't used to have it. He used to be with a family that constantly tried to break him, and was forced to pull heavy loads when he wouldn't cooperate. Yet, this never broke him, instead reinforcing his own will, and giving him the strength to back it. Now, he is just as unbeatable and unbreakable as the Tempest he's named for.
