Personality: Kind and caring, Summer forms a strong bond with her rider, and is excellent at taking care of them where she can. When needed, however, she can be relied on to fiercely protect her rider from harm, no matter the risk to herself. These qualities make her invaluable as a war mount, and she is a much-loved part of any cavalry.

Backstory: Her reliability and kindness initially made her best-suited to helping young knights learn to fight from horseback. When a shortage of mounts forced Summer onto the battlefield with her young rider, she proved herself almost immediately, when her rider was knocked into the path of an oncoming charger. Without hesitating, she bolted in front of the opposing charger, saving her rider but becoming injured in the process. Summer was meticulously nursed back to health by the rider she saved, and now the two are inseperable.

Rider: A young girl named Zaniq who disguised herself as a boy in order to join the cavalry; she aspired to be a knight just like her father had been. After seeing the terror of battle first-hand and the risk posed to the horses, Zaniq has decided to instead become a champion jouster with her trusted mount.

Relationship with Rider: Summer has a great deal of love and trust for her rider, Zaniq, after all they've been through together. She knows she can rely on Zaniq, just as Zaniq can rely on her. Together, the two are known for being fearless in the jousting lists.

24 year old male. dark brown hair barely passing the top of his ears and swooping into his forest-like green eyes constantly. he has glasses, & sometimes wears the black 70s style framed lenses passed down from his dad, but always when he doesnt need them. prefers a light cotton tee- shirt, worn denim jeans, and his lucky pair of terracotta hightop converse to get him through the endless days, and grasshoppers.

starting to ride at the age of ten, peter competed in cross country but grew tired of the competitivness of the other riders and started riding for the freedom. algea was never his horse, the owner of the stables would allow peter to ride her on the daily, for her exercise and his joy. when the two first meet, the mare was already past her prime and into her golden years and he was just beginning to live his own life. weekly, peter would visit and give her apples and then in time, hours would pass before they would come back to civilizations; trotting along the perimeter of the back pasture, laying in the bug-infested meadow, and lurking near the cold water creek that dives through the center of the forest- everyone in their small town knew the pairing could never be separated. within years and coming of age, peter found his own job and worked on days end for the money to buy the mare when he found out she was going to be sold. he and the owner made an agreement that if he would always take care of her, like he has, she would forever be his, if she was there or not.

peter is a typical boy, but less rebelliousness. algea is the typical mare, but even more stubborn. he has more patience than her and she definitely has more stamina. together, the find their happy agreement and it can never be naturally broken. no one is really sure of algeas background, but they do know her mother was born in the wild and it makes sense for her relationship with Mother Earth: calm, understanding, healthy. something other horses typically dont have. with his observant mind & charming personality, they have helped each other untangle and work out their flaws: her selfishness and arrogant personality and his demanding and secretive first impressions.

backstory

ever since algea was a filly, she would walk into the pasture with the meadow with her head staring at the ground, like she was looking at the Earth's core. what she was doing, and is doing constantly is picking clovers. not any clovers, her special clovers. to this day, she has found twelve and struck a wall. she typically lies down and searches the area then does it again some feet away. to store them, she attempts to put them somewhere in her tail, but they always fall out and they disappear once again back into the clover fields.
