Task 1 - Unloading;
Share a story in the unloading from the trailer
(50-100 Word Story)
The dirty furred mare squealed when she heard the doors open, knowing I was getting in. I made a soft sound, talking to her and making noises so she could track my movements. I was excited to have another round-up member here, to add to my herd. I placed a hand on her shoulder, then readied her and backed her from the trailer. She squealed, stamping, and I moved her away from the trailer, avoiding any ‘loose’ hooves.
Task 2 - Taming;
Share a story in how you started taming, to be able to gain a bit of trust
(50-100 Word Story)
I did the same thing as I’d done with Kanna, however...Pumkin did not seem to find as much curiosity, more like she was sizing up what I was doing and whether I could be a threat of some sort. I gave a sigh, watching her ears twitch and perk at the sound, and tilted my head. I let out another breath, and she snorted and looked over. I tossed a treat, and while she stared it down, she eventually lipped it up and ate it. She squealed and, as I continued making sounds foreign to her, eventually moved close enough I could reach out and touch. She shuddered, squealing, and while she moved away, she’d let me touch her.
Task 3 - Introduce to a herd;
Introduce the Grelifcent to your/one of your herds.
(50-100 Word Story)
Much the same as with Kanna, Amrik pranced around as though showing off, with the added bonus of squealing and calling now. Anya and Arwen reacted exactly the same as they had with Kanna, which was great because that meant Pumkin didn’t bother them, and they’d accept her. The mare squealed as she investigated the three of them, then Kanna pranced up...Kanna and Pumkin scented each other, squealing, then began to groom. I smiled, releasing Pumkin to the pasture then.
Task 4 - Brush & Bathe;
Share a story in brushing to clean the Grelifcent
(50-100 Word Story)
I picked up a brush, touching Pumkin and speaking in a soft tone to let her know I was there. I began clean the dirt out of her coat, bringing it up to the surface then brushing it off. When that was done, I dealt with her hair, then glanced to her hooves. I wanted to pick them, but wasn’t sure she’d let me yet. Shaking my head, I led her outside, having my brother hold her still and hosed her down, washing and rinsing then letting her dry in the sunlight.
Task 5 - Fully Tamed;
Share a story in how you connected with the Grelifcent
(50-100 Word Story)
I was walking through the barn, checking everything, when Kanna and Pumkin both squealed and snorted at me. I gave Kanna a few good scratches through the bars, then turned towards Pumkin. She squealed, tossing her head a bit, then stuck her muzzle up to the bars. I walked close, holding up a hand, and she scented then blew on me, sign that an equine accepts a human. I walked in the stall, giving her scratches, and she squealed and bumped her head on my shoulder, wanting to groom me back. I chuckled, but of course didn’t allow it, because I’m not an equine.
Task 6 - Started Training;
Share a story on starting training. Getting used to a halter
and leading.
(50-100 Word Story)
I hummed calmingly as I approached Pumkin, laying the halter against her and letting her get used to the texture. Once she didn’t try moving away anymore, I slipped it on her head, clipping it. She squealed and shook her head around, but eventually gave up, dealing with it. I smiled, getting a rope and buckling it on, then began to walk. At first, she wanted to go her own way, but eventually began following me, as she realized she couldn’t get very far with a halter and rope on.
