Show Name: Rise of the Darkness
    Barn Name: Erebus
    Gender: Gelding
    Height: 19.2 hh

    Sire: Magic Clay
    Dam: Dancing Fire

    Phenotype: Blue Silver Tobiano
Genotype: Ee | Ata | Zz | Tt
Eye Color: Will of the Necromancer
    Breeding Notes:
    • All Golems are sterile! They can produce no offspring.

Seven lumps of magic clay, dancing flames on which they lay.
Shamans magic infused by night, the witching hour called under blight.
Fading earth and folk of bone, cries that lifted to an ignored throne.
Life arose with power and might, summoned forth to cease the blight...

The Death Golem was summoned to wisk away the lost souls, so they would not wander the tribes lands for eternity without cause. The Shaman who summoned him was a firm believer that souls were like children, even those of the elders, and they needed a guide into the afterlife or they would become violent specters bound for all time.

    To win the Death Golem’s favor, you must do the following;
    • Name him appropriately.
    • Write or draw about his first summoning by his shaman many years ••ago. Minimum of 150 words if written.
    • One optional piece of work is permitted; any medium.

The Death Golem will not grant favor to those who own more than 50 drafts!
Only members who own 50 or less drafts may enter.
These drafts may not be bred! They were not born, they were created from clay and fire by Shaman centuries ago, and have since wandered their summoning grounds since the summoners tethered them to the earth.
The era of this theme is more akin to the Stone Age through the Iron Age! This means metals were just being used, agriculture was recently birthed, hunting was a way of life for the people, etc etc. Keep to this theme, please!

The inky blackness stretched across the sky impossibly, and blanketed the Earth as if to say that the night had truly reached its peak. However, this quiet was interrupted by soft footsteps and distant hums. Seven pairs of shoes rustled upon the ground as insects scattered at their approach. Their speed spoke of their urgency, tonight was going to be something that would change the world as they knew it. They burst out of the trees, coming onto a clearing that tapered off into a cliff. Their humming grew louder as they spread out into 7 different locations which connected into a circle. The time was drawing near and thee tension in the area doubled.

Each shaman began their own ritual, but one shaman in particular, was determined to draw out one who was older than all things but life itself. Hurried the shaman set out the many things they had stowed away in their bag, the preparation had to be done perfectly or all was for naught. Years of researching in obscure texts, talking to brigands, and fighting off robbers had led this very night. Quickly he tucked ashes of a phoenix into the lump of clay he had put upon the altar. Finding it was near impossible, but that was not the hardest to find by far. No. It was the bone shards of a reaper that had caused the most grief. Putting it inside the mortar and grinding it as fast as possible into a fine powder with the pestle was fatiguing. The shaman tucked it into the clap as well. The final and perhaps most important ingredient was so simple, it could be found just about anywhere. The grave yard dirt was put into a bowl and mixed with water until it became a muddy sort of substance. The shaman smeared it around the lump of clay before standing back.

This was it. Around the clearing the rest of the shamans had completed their preparation as well. They began to chant together, an ominous sort of harmony that spoke of ancient magics and passion. The ground rumbled in a furious way, rocks sprouting from the ground and the shaman had centered his sight and vision upon the destroyed altar. The clay pulsed violently as the ground opened with cracks jutting from the hole. The heat rose almost unbearably and the clay began to form into something. The shaman shut their eyes against the bright flash of light. When the shaman opened them and blinked away the black spots in his vision, there stood a horse. Intimidating in stature, but its aura exuded calm. Falling to their knees in awe, their presence was otherworldly.

They had done it.

    First Summons:
xxI have, what some of the many Rajarshi Drafts would call, an old
xxspirit. However, I rarely interact with vast number of Rajarshi Drafts
xxas they are a part of the land of the living and tend not to travel
xxnear my summoning grounds. But I do not mind as I spend most of my
xxdays among the departed souls guiding them to the afterlife. And
xxafter all guiding souls is a full time job. Sometimes they need my full
xxattention. Why? Because it is what I was summoned to do. What do
xxI mean by the saying that I was summoned? Well that is quite the tale.
xxLet's take a walk down memory lane and visit my first summoning.
xxAnd what a day that was .....

xxCenturies ago, there were seven Shaman that gathered together to
xxtry and call upon ancient powers to help their world. To do so they
xxeach gathered a single lump of magical clay and when the night drew upon the witching hour they began their chants
xxaround a blazing fire. Together the Shaman successfully summoned seven Golems; Storm, Death, Ice, Life, Fire,
xxBalance and Myth. I am the Death Golem, my name is Erebus. I was the second Goldem to be summoned by the Shaman
xxand once I was tethered to the ground where they summoned me, I watched them move from around and transition
xxinto bringing the other Golems to life. But now back to me, I seem to have gotten a tad off track.

xxWhen I was summoned it was a strange feeling. I could hear the chanting of the Shaman faintly at first and then as louder
xxthan anything I had ever known. Sensing a pull and a need to emerge, I began to rise from the smoke and the flames until I
xxstood tall in front of the Shaman who summoned me. I gave a quick shake to remove the thin layer of ash that covered my
xxwithers and shoulders creating a new cloud of smoke around me. My presence seemed to lull the Shaman into a speechless
xxstate for a few moments. After the silence passed one of the seven Shaman approached slowly telling tales of souls who
xxwere in need of my assistance, souls who had become lost and were believed to be wandering aimlessly for eternity. The
xxShaman believed I could save the souls from becoming malicious and vengeful spirits by becoming a guide and helping
xxthem achieve peace. Upon seeing the passion and the drive that the Shaman had for helping the lost souls I accepted my
xxsummon and was tethered to the summoning grounds. It was on this particular summoning that I received my true purpose
xxand while I am technically stuck here, I do quite enjoy gathering up the lost souls and guiding them in the proper
xxdirection, no matter how messy it gets. And I owe it all to the Shaman that decided to summon me, Death.
