connection to the sea -- Marina was born on a beach at the edge of the Caribbean, right there she had to decide wether her heart belonged to the sea or the land. Evidently,she chose the sea, and developed the beautiful markings she has today. She adores the water and is probably the best paushin swimmer there ever was. The loves to eat fish (obviously) but her favorite are the colorful reef fish. In addition to her swimming talent, she can perfectly locate any riptides or currents. How she can tell is unsure, but she constantly is on the lookout for other paushins in the area, so she can warn them of dangerous currents. She swims long distances across the seas to reach paradise like islands where she collects shiny bits of shell that wash ashore. She then weaves shiny peices into her hair.

Luina's parents were torn apart because of the sea, and for that reason, she has been brought closer towards the ocean than she ever used to. When she was younger, her mother would bring her to the ocean to play, and she would play with animals like dolphins and sharks down by the bay they lived on. But one day, her parents were fighting, and her father yelled that her mother had to leave...and when asked why, her father yelled about how he wanted to go off to the inner city, to be a great worker, but that her mother only cared about herself. And she swore she saw her mother leave, leave by walking straight into the ocean. Luina ran to go see her leave, and ran under the water to try and find her, but before she could find her, the water overtook her lungs, and she struggled to stay above water. She failed, almost falling to the bottom of the bay before her father pulled her to shore, angrily saying how they were going to be moving to the city as soon as possible. But, Luina didn't want to leave. Her mother was out there, somewhere, and she didn't want to leave her alone.

Luina ran away from home in the night as her father laid down to rest, bravery in her heart and spite on her tongue. Her father was the selfish one, and she was old enough to be on her own anyways. She didn't need him. She just needed to be with her mother. She ran by the shore, following the coastline to find somewhere far away, but still near the ocean where her mother had disappeared. Luina didn't know how to forage, and she was alone. And yet, Luina survived. Off washed up bits of edibles, drinking seawater as best as she could, even with the dehydrating effect. Living off the water, waiting for her mother, hoping she would come back to help her daughter. Until the day she was found, crying on the shore, knocking upon death's door with dehydration and starvation.
