Short Story:
Travelling through the sea of tents on my prize mare, I couldn't help but notice, just over the muffled din of the event, the sound of a horse in distress, panicked and frightened. With a quiet whisper to the mare, she launched from a halt into her smooth, gentle canter, heading towards the sounds that upset me greatly. No horse should be making those sounds at the most prestigious show in the Desert. As we approached the edge of the area allotted as a large temporary paddock, I noticed the most beautiful stallion, one I had noticed yesterday being spurred on by his hard-headed rider, being chased by two or three others horses that belong to that same rider. He was kicking at them in defence as they bit and kicked at him, driving him around, already in a lather of sweat.

Without even thinking I started chasing them around the outside of the fenceline, and, once getting close enough, I let out the loudest shout I could, yelling at them to leave him alone. The unexpected sound was enough to stop the horses chasing, and my harried stallion friend quickly made his escape in their hesitation, galloping almost startingly quickly towards the fence, launching himself over it and landing neatly on the other side (and the empty adjoining yard) all in what seemed like only a second.

Eyes wide at this show of true beauty, grace and determination, I almost didn't notice the rider and owner of the horses approach me, one looking irate and angry, the other almost curious. Knowing I had not actually entered the enclosure, I had done nothing wrong, and I told them both that they had a beautiful horse who was being bullied by his others. They nodded, both knowing, and the owner quickly explained that neither of them liked the stallion and that he was to be sold. Not even hesitating, I offered quite a large sum, more than I usually would for a horse, and the owner smiled wide, thinking me foolish as he accepted almost as quickly. The gruff rider explained to me that the horse was a terror to ride, and had to be forced to do things, stubborn and boorish.

I didn't even bother to argue as we settled the deal, handing them a cheque with a 5-figure sum and getting a halter and the stallions papers back in return. It was with that halter that I went to retrieve my new horse, and while he was nervous at first, moving away from me constantly, I managed to get him to come to me enough to put the halter on and lead him away, telling him that "this is the change in your destiny, my friend".

I found out quickly that my new stallion was a nervous boy, and would need some time to get him feeling completely comfortable. Luckily, he took to me quickly, allowing me to do much with him, seeming always to give his 110% in training sessions. He was sweet with everyone that came to see him, gentle with children and adults alike. He didn't seem to get on with the other horses as easy though, even though my herd do not chase, and I know there is still some work there to do, to build his trust him. Nevertheless, the newly named 'Joey' is proving himself to me, as expressive in his paces as ever he was on that day I watched him jump to his escape, this sweet boy learning to trust again.

I know there are big things in the future for my stallion and I.

Colors for tack (please list two): Gold and Silver (Gold lining and bridle, and then silver).

Thanks Quagga. He's absolutely gorgeous, so I'm kind of disappointed too. I wanted to see some more ideas and stories. :( But thank you very much, I will try and do justice to your awesome design and create him an epic story. I had great fun coming up with this one, and its helped me flesh out my whole stable and story. <3

In the future, if you want to extend, I would say to extend. ^.^ I certainly wouldn't mind.

Hey Quagga! Sorry to bring this up out of nowhere!
Could I be a total pain and ask whether the background could be removed so I can have a PNG for my stable thread? :)
Thanks!
