♣ Short Story About Their Favorite St. Patrick's Day Memory: Daimhin really didn't understand Saint Patrick's Day. It was a day to feast and drink and... not much else? She really didn't see what the big deal was and often used the excuse of her moss green fur to not bother finding something green to wear. At least, that's how she viewed it until the day her mother took her to the festival.
Having never really attended a festival before, Daimhin was almost in shock. The mass amounts of green everywhere! The humans, the dogs, the cats, and even other Longnecks where all dressed in green! She had never really thought too much of the color before then, but now she was very proud to display her pelt color. Even more so, the shamrock markings on her side. So many others would ask how she painted that so clearly, or what sort of coloring she used. She was thrilled to explain she's had it since birth.
Before she knew it, she was fitting in quite well. Enjoying the traditional foods with her mother as they counted just how many flags of Ireland that passed by them. In fact, Daimhin hadn't recalled the last time she had this much fun! She learned to dance to the music of her ancestors. Perhaps a little clumsily, but still! She found out why Saint Patrick had a day of his own, and how interesting of a legacy he lead. She even had her skull painted in the colors of the Irish flag.
As the day grew short and the moon started to rise, Daimhin grew tired. But her mother insisted they wait. Having learned that her mother's ideas weren't always so bad, she waited without a peep of resistence. Though, as hard as she tried to be patient, the darker it got the heavier her eyelids felt. Until she heard it, almost startling her back into the wakeful world. The bang that led a trickle of green sparks falling from the sky.
The fireworks were beautiful, and all her favorite ones were green. So vibrant against the night sky! It was amazing! They even had ones shaped like shamrocks, and lined up the colors for the flag! She watched in awe until the very last sparkle of the very last firework burned out into nothingness. Daimhin looked to her mother and smiled in a moment of cognizance, realizing she'd never quite have a day just like this one again.
♣ Drawing of their favorite Green item: Fireworks count as an item, right?
♣ Anything Else? I'm really excited to try for this little one! I love the little lucky clovers with the subtle coloring. Thank you for the opportunity!
