Once, when Silas was much younger, he was following his mother and her rider on a trail ride. They came to a small river crossing where there was a rocky ledge that run the width of the waters, just a foot or so beneath the waters surface. Being the overly confident, cocky, young colt that he was, Silas decided to splash ahead of the older, wiser horses who were taking their time and finding their footing. All of a sudden, Silas plunged beneath the water! He had dashed and splashed right of the edge of natural rock pass and into a deep pool! After a few moments of flailing limbs and panic, little Si managed to swim his way back to the shallows of the bank. He stood for a moment to catch his breath and gather his wits, before deciding to charge right back in and do it again!
Silas still loves to swim to this very day, which can be quite the hassle for any inexperienced rider not wanting to get wet on their trail rides.
