One small rose rises from the dusty earth...
Alice's mother sighed, and patted her daughter's head. Their crops were going to fail again, as another drought was coming to ravage the land. The older Saukko was hoping their crops would be good, as the rest of the Maa Klanni needed food. Degected she picked up Alice by the skruff and carried her home.
The rose blooms silently, embracing the moonlight...
Alice knew the crops were in danger. And being the young Saukko is was she knew just what to do. Skittering across the dust she found the shed where her mom kept and ice chest and cleaning rags. She ran to the field the now wet rags lay over the ice. At the first crop row she placed 3 ice cubes near each plant and wrapped each in a rag. Little did she know of the dangers of a night like this...
As she started to leave the field a dust storm whipped up. All the field dust swirled into the air seemed mad at her for her disturbance. It whorled all around her before the dust consumed her and the field, and all was silent.
The trodden rose perks up, alive once more...
Alice's mother awoke disturbed to not find Alice's warmt pressed against her. Alice's mother creeper out to see the field's. They were a mess!Every plant was bent to the ground with a weary old rag tied around them? Knowing this was Alice's work, her mother ran swiftly through the fields calling to her child, but Alice was nowhere to be seen. Her child probably dead to the storm she walked back, intill a dusty pink shape caught her eye, a desert rose, its dusty petals curled tight. She walked towards it as this breed of rose is very large. She peeled back the dust slick petals and inside, protected from the dusts wraith was Alice, looking a little worse for wear but overall fine. The mother clutched Alice to her chest as Alice explained her was trying to keep the plants hydrated and cozy last night. Her mother forgave her for going out, but ever since then Alice is know as the child of the dust rose, a protecter of children and a symbol of rebirth and protection.
