Hammond met his dear friend Horus after a particularly long and bloody battle. Hammond was slowly making his way through the wreckage of the battle grounds, headed home, when he saw Horus lying on the ground, unable to fly due to an arrow through his wing. Hammond took pity on the beautiful young avian, so he helped the small kestrel and brought him home with him, where he recovered. Since that day, Horus has stuck by Hammond's side, forever grateful for saving him from a certain death as he lay helpless in the blood stained muds of war.
During battle, Horus acts as Hammond's "eye in the sky", flying high over head to spy on the enemy and returning to inform Hammond so he can plot the best attack. There has been several occasions where, if it hadn't been for Horus' keen eyes, the Rajarshi warriors would have been ambushed or unprepared to face the enemy numbers. This has earned Horus quite a bit of respect amongst all of his equine peers.
During times of peace, Horus and Hammond are still inseperable. Seeing Horus perched upon Hammonds withers is a familiar sight to all. The young Rajarshi foals love to pester them for a game of hide and seek. They gallop off to try to find a hiding spot where Horus can not see them from above and report back to Hammond.

Best Friend: Adahee's best friend is that of another species. This animal friend is a wolfdog. More wolf than a dog, his best friend Chief also has Native American (Cherokee) related name. These two met when Chief was injured in a hunters trap deep in the forest. Adahee was on his daily trail ride to exercise his strong long legs out! His trail ride was interrupted when their was whimpering and thrashing in the brush near the dirt path. There was Chief, trapped and in a panic. It was going to drop to sub zero temperatures by the time nightfall came. It was in the middle of winter. Chief was caught in a bear trap and it was sounding off an alarm for the hunters to come by. Adahee's rider jumped into action and covered the wolfdog up. The trap was deep into the canines leg. When he realized they were helping him, he allowed the rider and the horse to carry him home. How did Adahee and Chief become friends? Chief was put into a large area to recover. Adahee was in the pasture next to this large pen. Chief would interact with Adahee and the two would run and mess around, even when they were not in the same area together. Adahee was the only animal Chief interacted with during his recovery. But as we know, not all wild animals should be kept in a pen. When Chief was all better he followed Adahee on a trail, a different trail, and he was introduced to a huge field with forests around it and a waterfall with a small stream. Every now and again Chief visits the ranch and runs around with Adahee. But when winter comes, Chief stays around until spring! Each time they part, they remember each other perfectly when Chief does return.

Dusk walked in silence the young colt listened to the wind stir the autumn leaves around him it had been a long hard day he had lost his mother today Verona had been a fierce mare with a coat of gold and blue like the skies when day turned to dusk he had loved her deeply and losing her stung making him feel depressed he stood in the far corner of the paddock when he heard a shriek he noticed movement he turned sitting on the fence post was an owl with a white heart-shaped face and feathers of gold and blue just like mother he laughed at his childishness and turned away his mother was dead not an owl but something drew his eyes back to the dusky colored owl and though he could not tell you what it continued to draw him back for two weeks he would head to the fence post each evening sometimes even bringing an offering for the owl over time a bond of trust was formed and now Dusk is unseperable from his feathered friend occasionally he muses if this was his mothers doing either way to honor her he named the owl Alese meaning beautiful soul
