When Hysteria was little she watched a live performance where a witch showed her magic through potion mixtures. Of course it was all an act, and she didn't believe it, but Hysteria was fascinated in how two chemical components could come together and form something mystical. Hysteria works as a road side witch act, much like the one she saw as a child, in order to gather money. She's constantly blowing things up with her crazy mixtures, so it's no mystery why she can't get a job as a professional chemist. However she's so intrigued by chemistry as long as she can do it she doesn't really care.

Elsie E. Vonda was the typical witch. She owned a black cat (bar his white chest and toes). She rode a broomstick (that may or may not possess any magical qualities). She even carried around a wand and did magic (albeit the accidentally explosive kind). But despite being the typical witch, Elsie made sure to stay as far away from potions as possible.

It was more of a mandatory thing. As appealing as messing around with toads’ toes and slug slime sounded, Elsie would rather watch the potion-making process from the sidelines. Mashing together pumpkin seeds and fairy wings sounded really, really fun, though… but no, no! Elsie could only watch. If she even dared to try and touch but one of her mother’s ingredients, her body would morph into a horrible hive monster.

Gosh darn allergies! But, it was oh-so-tempting, though. Maybe when her mother turned her back. Maybe if she pulled on some thick cotton gloves. Just a dash of hazelnut shell. Only a pinch of ground dragon scale. Top it off with coconut hair and hey! No hives and a beautiful, bubbling brew before her. Her first potion!

Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad, if she was careful since Elsie E. Vonda was a typical witch. She was good at casting spells (bar the ones with explosive outcomes). She could drive a broomstick (so long as she was walking). And Elsie could craft magical brews (if she always wore protective gear and could get away from her mother long enough). Yes, Elsie was the typical witch.

{how did they get into potions?} Minki's parents were both very skilled scientists, and also wanted their child to be one too. Minki was sent to a science school to learn about chemicals and how to get a job at a scientist. But on the other hand, Minki didn't care about being a Scientist that much. She would usually do her own thing instead of listening to the teacher. If the lesson was about writing, she would write her own hypothesis on how 2 chemicals would react. If it was about mixing, she would brew her own potions and watch the reaction. At no surprise, she got bad grades and always got scolded by her parents.
Then, Halloween came finally. And she knew exactly what she was gonna be.
She fastened on her hat with a few strings (since it was a little big and loose for her) and grabbed all the stuff she needed; A broom, A fake pot, and a few chemicals she 'borrowed' from her parents. She quickly dashed out the door eagerly and then rushed up to houses, yapping 'TRICK OR TREAT!'.
She was happily skipping down a pathway when she spotted a small yellow patch. She skipped up to it, finding out it was a pathway into the forest. She decided to go explore and ran down it.
She saw a small house, walking up to it, and knocking on it.
The door opened, and a old Babusagi greeted Minki. "Trick or Treat!" She said.
The Old Babusagi was delighted to see her, and gave her a few candies. As she was about to leave, Minki said "Would you like to see a trick??"
"Oh, of course!" The old babu replied.
Minki smirked, then placing the bowl in front of her. She pulled out a few bottles of liquid and poured them in. When she poured the last liquid into the bowl, she shouted "POOF!" and then, the chemicals mixed together and made a explosion of smoke.
The Old babu was surprised, but also delighted to see the trick. She clapped her paws, saying "That was marvelous!"
Minki bowed in pleasure.
She motioned to Minki to come with her "I want to give you a small.. Treat." she said with slight mysteriousness.
Minki followed her into the house.

Minki was out of breath when she entered. There was many shelves on the walls with many different chemicals and liquids. Some were candy, some were solid, some were liquid, and some were even junk food! And there was lots of different things as well on the shelves that she didn't know about. She spun around, looking at all the stuff in and on the shelves and bottles. She stopped spinning, spotting a huge brass pot in the middle of the house. She ran up and looked in, the potion inside swirling under her reflection.
"Do you like my... Halloween decorations?" The old Babu said.
Minki's head violently shook up and down.
She giggled "You are a eager little one." She said cheekily.
"Now.. for your treat." She grabbed a few liquids, and gave a blue one to Minki. "On 3, you pour that it.. Got it?"
Minki nodded.
"Ok then."
She took a big breath.
"1.."
The old babu poured her liquid in.
"2.."
"3..!"
Minki poured her liquid in, and the mixture fuzzed up a bit. The old babu got a container, scooped some of the mix into it, and added some sprinkles onto it. She closed the lid and gave it to Minki.
Minki was confused. How would this be a treat. She carefully opened the lid a tiny bit and drank some of the brew. It tasted just like her favorite drink; A Strawberry milkshake! She thanked the old babu and ran home with her fake pot
When she got home, she showed her parents the mix. They were confused, thinking it was just a trick from someone. Minki urged them to drink it, pouring them 2 glasses of it. When they tried it, they were surprised for it to taste like a strawberry milkshake. They were confused on how she got it, but never asked.

Many years later, Minki is now a fully grown Babu. Her parents and her decided that it would be best for her to move to her own house. She decided to go for a walk, as she might find a house she likes that is for sale.
As she was walking, she spotted the same little house that she had been to on a old Halloween. There was a scratched up sign saying 'FOR FREE'. The windows were scratchy and busted. Kids near her were saying that it was 'haunted' with ghosts.
She walked up to the door, and entered it. She had written on the sign 'TAKEN'
When she entered, the house was very old looking and unrepaired. Cobwebs filled the corners, and the brass pot in the middle was rusty and old.
She jumped onto the bed and laid down.
She had just closed her eyes when she heard a cracking sound. She lifted her head up to see a white potion falling down and then smash in mid air, revealing a shape.
She stared at it for a second, then jumping up and shouting "WHO AND WHAT ARE YOU??"
The white figure turned, then Minki barely saw a smile. "The owner that had this house before."
She froze "So- your the..-"
She nodded.

Minki hugged the ghost, smiling.

how did they get into potions? Camila was trick -or- treating by her school,when a big floating ball of gas appeared. She was blinded for a second, and in a second it disapeared and appeared somewhere else. It continued doing that until she finally thought that it wanted her to follow it. She followed it into a deep black forest, which she had never known about until now.
The forest was dark and forbidding, twings snapped under her weight and critters ran by her feet. Then suddenly floating ball disapeared all the way, she then realized that she was lost. She sat down on a log, hungry she nibbled a piece of candy. There she saw the floating ball of gas she hurriedly ran to it and it disapeared all the way again. She sighed and started walking through the forest lost. She continued walking, when she saw light ahead, and she quickly ran towards it. It was a weird looking house with weird dark colors, it looked spooky. Disapointed, it was not the floating ball again, she knocked on the door anyways. Nobody answered, so she tried the handle and it opened, so she walked timidly inside. Inside their were eyeballs, dead frogs,and many disgusting things she would not like to talk about. A cauldron was also inside, and she wondered was it was. She couldn't see what was in there, because she was too short. So she took a stool form the closet, and lstood on it and looked in. She then decided to maybe mix around. She took some of the many disgusting things she would not like to talk about and started mixing until an old babasugi came home to find her. The old babasugi was quite nice and teached her to make many different potions.
From then on, she was always potion making , and visitng the old babusugi

How did they get into potions?

Medea came from a family of connoisseurs: her mother and father were both hearty cooks. For this, she grew up around different ingredients, each one familiarized to her by her parents. She was so determined to pursue cuisine as she was constantly exposed to scents and flavors. As a child, Medea thoroughly enjoyed standing on a stool while her parents threw in different food items in the pot, watching as the cauldron on their stove bubbled with fascinating scents. She enjoyed smelling her parents' cooking, but for some reason she was unable to taste the richness the same way her parents looked like they loved it.

☆ Medea later on learned she was born with a reduced ability to taste. For this, she was disheartened to pursue cuisine.

One Halloween day, however, left an imprint on her. Medea was out strolling through the park when she passed by a stall called "Brewed Potions". Curious, she approached the stall, and saw a lovely old woman watching over the stall. The woman was obviously not a witch, but she did dress as one, and offered "potions" to Medea in exchange for money. Medea bought one called Raspberry Potion, which the woman said brought happiness when taken. Medea was convinced the potion was just juice, but she couldn't deny suddenly feeling happy as well after seeing the woman's glowing smile. Medea let out a giggle after finishing the beverage. The woman must've been proud of her recipe, albeit not knowing Medea had a taste disorder.

☆ "Did you like it? I made it with love. I hope to make children happy with my recipes. Happiness is magical, isn't it?"

As Medea walked home, she couldn't take that encounter off her mind. She did love to mix and match things like how cooking worked; moreso she loved chemistry a lot. Potion-making... if she could brew up something magical and still make people happy with her cooking without having her lack in taste hinder her, that would be wonderful.

☆ Witchcraft? It was an odd career path, but it sounded fun.

From then on she focused her energy in studying ingredients and their chemical components, what reactions go with what items, and what products can be formed. She studied the effects of each of these solutions, in the process often failing because of a missing ingredient or a hindering effect in one of the ingredients used. Nevertheless it was not enough to make her give up. With enough determination, she made a wide array of successful potions, each with a unique effect on a Babu. This was her job now, mixing and matching different ingredients in a cauldron bubbling with fascinating scents, afterwards pouring this concoction in a bottle filled with all her love.
