Every year during the new moon in October, those who celebrate this Hindu festival gather and
celebrate the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope
over despair.
They celebrate, with the lights as a reminder of the importance of knowledge, self inquiry,
self-improvement, knowing and seeking the good and the right path. It is the celebration of the
triumph of good over evil.
