Story about a famous dog: (I'm going to assume a fake tale, tell me if otherwise)
Georgie had never been known to stray from his owner until that day. But those helpless screams and the overwhelming scent of fear made it very clear where he was needed. Georgie was a Rhodesian ridgeback, so he certainly had the nose to go searching for the source of these sounds. And despite his owners worried calls as he took off into the woods at a trot, he refused to come back. It took a minute before she followed. The forest was dense but noisy. Bugs clicked, squirrels moved about, birds chattered, and frogs croaked in the stream. The screams were faint, but as they got closer, even the owner could tell. Someone was calling for help. The two took off now, Georgie careful to keep pace, sometimes racing ahead, making sure they were visible to one another as they got closer. At one point the noise seemed to stop. Georgie knew where the sound had come from and could smell the way, but his owner stopped and looked around in worry. She considered and reconsidered looking about, knowing they could just as easily become helpless if they became lost in the woods. Finally, as Georgie moved himself further away, did she realize that he still knew the way. With a wave of her hand, she let her companion lead the way. Only minutes later did they find themselves at the edge of a muddy drop into the stream. The cold waters trickled past a shape partially submerged but gazing at Georgie and the woman beside him with thanks. It was a young man, having decided to go off the trail in search of the stream, fell, dislocated a shoulder, broke a leg, and was stuck in a tangled mess of roots hanging out the side of the bank. He was alive but cold and tired. He could wait for the rescue team.
I'm quitting!
