the blue and red wolf turned her heard to gaze at the broad features of her companion, his gaze warm as it met hers. Quanna had almost forgotten - it was her birthday. With a small smile, she chuckled and nudged him with a paw.
"A celebration for me? I don't wish to celebrate getting older and slower, you know." she smirked at her own words, before shaking her head. "There are more drastic issues at hand, no one else needs to be worried about me, or what day it might be,"
"Surely you wish to have at least the night off?" her companion pressed. "...I know you want to see your family, Qua."
Pausing, she closed her eyes and allowed memories to flash before her eyes - being a small pup, surrounded in the love and affection of her parents who loved her very dearly
"That's besides the point, you and the boss need me here. Anyways, who needs small celebrations when you can have the best times with family, huh?" Quanna looked down at the paperwork that lay in front of her, forcing a smile onto her face. "See, this could be a good time for me, too. Don't worry, Ruby."

"Well, I'm done. I think I need a break."
Seeing the brown pelted wolf completely out of energy amused Quanna, and she went to playfully poke him. "I don't think Brooklyn or Carver are gonna be too happy if you turn up at home with this attitude. Wicke might let it slide." she teased, causing her friend to laugh at her words.
"I suppose you're right, Carver and Brooklyn will pull me out of my exhaustion, if only they knew how hard this was. My head hurts."
Qua remembered that he had pups at home he had to tend to - a big family, and it was in fact a special night for them all, as well. "So you're getting together with Brooklyn's family?"
"Yeah, its gonna be the pups first time seeing everyone together...theres so many, they'll be surprised thats for sure. They have so many aunts and uncles - cousins too." Ruby stated, resting his head on the desk. "Sometimes it drives me a little mad, my fathers weren't like this at all."
"All families celebrate differently...from what you've told me, one particular father prefers not to get you any physical gifts." Quanna smiled as Ruby looked half offended - joking about.
"Blue says that his gift is his love! Red likes to hit him a few times on the head for that."

Soon it was time for them to leave, Ruby having told his family he would be home soon. Before the two friends parted ways, he turned his gaze to Quanna. "Join us, Qua."
That had caught her by surprise. But she had been thinking long and hard on the words he spoke earlier.
"Thanks for the offer...but I think I'll go visit my parents for a change, you know."
